Is a storm door needed? Usually, with a covered porch you don't need one and can go with a front door with glass. If privacy is a concern, then a reflective window film can be applied.

I feel like you need color. More generous and "cottage-like" plantings would be great.

A colored front door, and a light by the front door, not over the windows. If you do use a storm door, paint it the same color as the front door.

Paint the front door a FUN color, be bold.

Whatever color you choose for the front door, echo in your plantings.

Larger light by the door (1/4-1/3 the length of the door) lots of plants and flowers, clean up the drive by killing the grass (1 gallon white vinegar, 2 cups Epsom salts, 1/4 cup Dawn dishwashing soap,) plant a nice ornamental tree in front of the triple window (allow for the tree's drip line when grown plus 3 feet further from the house for placement.)

Landscaping! A few well-places ornamental trees will do wonders, especially ones that don't get really solid crowns (crape myrtle, yellow birch, etc.). I'd put one about 8 feet away from the rightmost corner of the side of the house.

What's that tree/shrub in the center of the corner?

For the house, I'd put larger trim around the triple windows to tie them together visually. And I'd run a tall piece of wood at the bottom of the peaks' triangles to tie the ends together and fill above with different siding. That would break up the big expanse of clapboards.

I would also beef up the white porch post and beam for a more substantial appearance. Structurally it’s fine, but visually weak in composition. Example, a craftsman type boxed-out post & beam (there are other ways depending on style)

Think outside the box when landscaping, make your beds deeper and more curved, carry it around the corner, consider adding a tree to the front yard.I would not change out the porch light because your screen door opens into it, if you do change it keep it low profile, look for flush mount fixtures . I can also see paint the front door and screen door a pop teal, or even black to denote the area a little better. Add planters glazed pots to either side of garage door.

Now if you had a big budget i would add a whole front porch to the house. perhaps a pergola or awning over those big windows in front?

Absolutely start with creating much deeper beds with perennial plants and shrubs. Yes to the trellis on the blank wall--maybe with climbing pink roses. On the slight slope by your driveway, try some creeping myrtle that will green up the worn spots, and you won't have to mow. A cottage garden would be incredible, but even if you're not up to that, then much deeper beds. Have a small garden center work up a plan that you can start on now then fill out later on.

Such great ideas, thank you! I especially like the idea of framing out the front windows better. I did paint the door a great teal color but you can’t see it because of the ugly screen door. Here’s what it looks like.

I also have a hedge on the other side of the driveway as shown here. The landscaping was just planted last fall so it’s all quite small and I’m not much of a gardener so I don’t want anything that will require too much maintenance.

The suggested new windows would make a huge difference! but other than that, yes to beefier window trim; paint the screen door teal also; it looks to me that there is room for a more substantial and attractive porch light (could even paint one to match the door) or have one added to the porch ceiling; and nice sized house numbers next to the window on the porch; beef up the porch column and add half columns (width not height) to the spots where the railings meet the siding; a trellis or outdoor art to the blank wall.

If you have a good local garden center, they may have a designer on staff who will create a good layout for landscaping - often for free if you buy all the materials from them. Just tell them that you need lower maintenance. That big hedge is seriously overgrown and needs to be trimmed and shaped.

Get that hedge properly trimmed. If you want to keep it for privacy it needs to be cut so it is more narrow at the top and wider at the bottom. That way sunshine can reach all the leaves and it won't grow to be bare underneath and bushy on top. Looks like you still have time to prevent that. If I did new windows could I just do the 3 front windows or would I need the all the windows facing the street to match? Love the porch columns and light ideas. And yes, the hedge need some major work. That’s on this weekend’s project list!

As for the windows, if they’re the same style and color, then a staggered upgrade would be fine. But it would be weird to have completely different windows unless you knew you planned to update all of them at some time. If you’re just talking about trim, add trim to all of them, including the ones to the side and back because all sides of a house should be pleasing, not just the front.

You don't have to replace the windows to have that style. It's just new trim.

If you are going to replace them anyway, that's fine, but not at all necessary to get that look.

I'd paint the new trim the same color as the rest, so yeah, white. And--to lighten the maintenance--use Azek or similar PVC boards instead of wood.

You could probably get by with replacing the 3 prominant front facing windows only. Not ideal, but more affordable. Thats life in the real world.

I had suggested replacing the windows with the idea that you could buy 3 windows mulled together as one unit. Also with that muntin design (2 muntins on top sash only), because I thought it fit your house well. 3 windows mulled together as one is not too complicated to install for window installers.

We have owned 3 fixer uppers & have replaced or redesigned windows in all of them ( the old windows were truly deteriorated). People dont think about new windows as a design element, but in my experience, they can make a huge design difference. Plus less road noise inside the house, & in our cases added better thermal properties.
