These suggestions are great! The house was built in 1860, and therefore the rooms are small and somewhat chopped up. Quirky and charming. The stairway is somewhat hidden from the living room, with only about one third visible. Right now it is a dark-ish purple, and used as a gallery wall. The purple will morph into a deeper plum, and the paintings will return. Right now the LR is sage green with (outdated but pretty, bye, bye!) wisteria stenciling near the ceiling. The sage and purple do flow well. This LR will become taupe (maybe with a purple undertone!) and we'll add white crown molding. The windows will have white shutters. From the living room you can see some of the stairway and most of the kitchen. The furniture that stays is a leather wing chair and an antique maroon sarouk oriental carpet. I love antiques, and we have a couple of small antique tables, as well as several lovely framed pictures and photos. (I really NEED to take pix!) The kitchen will be oceany-blue, white trim and white shutters. Floor will be hardwood, and furniture is white. Simple black chandelier above the island and the (few) paintings are framed in simple black frames. You cannot see the stairway wall from the kitchen. Most of my accessories are blue and/or white. It's painted yellow now, and as we all know, "taupe hates yellow"! You are really helping me with this process! -Donna

Thank you everyone. I am having trouble typing right now so I can't respond to each of you at the moment but I wanted to clarify that I am not rafor. I tried setting up a photobucket account the other night and I felt like each page just got hung and I'm not sure I ever actually set up an account. Is it always that slow? We have grayish white trim througout our house because we replaced all of the windows in our house with Anderson Woodright windows that were prepainted. I insisted on realwood mullions because I like the look of them architecturally better than the mullions inside the glass. We had to match our trim to them....DH is my painter and he will not repaint them. I will try to add more later. The keyboard on this computer is sticking and making it hard to type right now.
