I use Windows Live Photo Gallery on my desktop computer and have to move photos out of it to the desktop on my computer in order to post.

I can easily upload pictures to FB, and it used to be simple to upload them here, but now it just won't work.

I usually drag photos to my desktop from my Photos and iPhoto apps, then upload from there. Those are copies, not the originals. Never been able to upload them directly from the apps. It's also easier than trying to find files/folders. After uploading, I just delete the copies.

Have you tried that yet?

You could also just keep a labelled folder on your desktop for photos you want to upload, if you want to be neat about it, &/or make it easier to find them when the dialogue box pops up.

Carolyn explained it better than I did. I have to drag the photos out of the app (on to my computer desktop) before I can upload them here

I'm not using an app or iphone. I download photos from my Canon camera to Windows Photo Gallery on my PC, then I upload to a website from photo gallery.

Example. If I wanted to post a photo here I click on the photo icon below. It automatically takes me to windows photo gallery. I find the picture and click on it once. Voila, it uploads.

BTW, I think I'm the only one who still uses cameras. lol

Windows photo gallery is no longer available for download (per google). It has been discontinued. So it's hard to say how well Microsoft is updating it for existing users. It is an app, by the way. Try moving a photo out of it to your desktop. Then see if you can post it.

The article I read said Windows Essential 2012 which included it's photo gallery has been discontinued. But that was written in 2018.

Photo gallery came with my PC, it still works when I upload a picture to other places online, or to an email. This is the only place it won't work.

What do you mean when you say move the photo to my desktop? I'm using a desktop (PC) which has photo gallery. Maybe I need more coffee. :)

Oakley - I right click on the picture and a box opens up. I scroll down to Send to and choose Desktop.

ETA I use a camera too.

What graywings said. You can also open the picture and "save as", the save to your "desktop". The desktop is the screen you see with all your programs, folders, etc.

You should also be able to simply hold down your mouse button on the image(almost any image, actually) and drag the image outside the window to the desktop, then release the mouse button.

And yes - if images are over a certain size (MB), they may take forever to load, or not load at all.

I use several cameras - all connect to my computer differently.

It worked! I've been to Desktop many times but the name didn't register for me.

Nothing changed as far as the size of the photo. There's some kind of glitch I guess. I uploaded 2 pictures on FB this morning from windows picture gallery with no problem.

I never seem to be able to post pictures, but just found a new way for me. My I phone has an option to download to my Houzz idea books, from there it can be posted. The only problem is it includes "more info" and I believe takes the reader back to my idea books, which I prefer to be private .

Back to square one. I've tried for two days and it won't upload to this website. Neither desktop or picture folder. Totally lost.
