Comments (2)I've never tried Bob Ross but last year I discovered Frank Clarke at http://www.simplypainting.com/htms/lessons/lessons.htm I've done decorative painting for a lot of years but never attempted a landscape until I found this site because I didn't know where to begin. His free web lessons are very well done. In fact I didn't even paint one of his on-line lessons the first time 'round. Instead, using his instruction I did a seascape complete with a lighthouse and was very pleased with the result....See MoreGraham Ross BHG
Comments (22)Maybe I am being too windy and pedantic, but when I read Government warnings on the sides of bags of potting compost, orchid compost, azalea compost and any other kind of prepacked garden aid in which micro-organisms can harm me, I take notice, put on the recommended protective gear, - mask, gloves, general cover-up, and proceed with caution. So why did I see the young lady presenter proceed with no protection in showing us how to use potting compost, in a GA show a few months ago? People have died from illnesses directly tracked back to these packages, which is why there is a government warning. A poor example to set to even one person liable to this infection, telecast to millions. Am I being just too careful?I look forward to watching GA and any other garden shows on TV, as long as they do their homework....See Moreoops, Ross Rosette found
Comments (3)Rose rosette is so frustrating. I'm sorry it has hit your roses. I don't even plant roses any more. We have a few left from the ones I planted when we first moved here, but once they are gone, I won't plant more. There's too much trouble with them nowadays. The weather has been so gorgeous that today's return to more typical February weather is hard to bear. We did need the rain, but I already miss the heat and the sunshine. We have a little over an inch of rain so far today, but it is the change in temperatures that bothers me. I'm happy to see the rain. We had our high for today in the early morning hours when it hit about 55 degrees. We're now down to 39 degrees. Last week was gorgeous, and Saturday was our warmest day here at 82 degrees. Most days the high had hovered around 79 degrees, which is not too shabby for February. I wonder how long it will be before we have another 80 degree day. Probably too long. We were desperately dry, so I am not complaining about the rain....See MoreMaple Could Use Bob Ross Magic- Need Help On Nursing Back To Prime
Comments (5)Can you post a photo of a leaf in close up?? They look very small and I am unable to determine what species it might be from the current photos. To be honest, your tree looks much worse than I had imagined from your description. In fact, it is more dead than alive and I am not sure it is recoverable. Large portions of dieback like what is showing is often an indicator of a vascular issue that is pretty much a fatal situation with maples. Cut off that lowest dead limb as close to trunk as you can manage. Peel off the bark at the cut end for several inches and give us a photo of that as well as a shot of the cut itself. That could help to narrow things down..........See MoreUser
