Still in demo phase of a full renovation in Milwaukee, WI. We moved here in May and have found there to be a lack of retailers, showrooms etc. when it comes to design materials. We are installing engineered hardwood with a minimum of 3mm wear layer but would prefer 4mm. Our builder recommended Alta Vista from Hallmark and we like the Laguna finish from that line. We also have looked at Provenza's New York Loft series (which is quite a bit more expensive). The Laguna is a bit more textured than we'd like and the Provenza has a max of 6' lengths pieces. The Alta Vista has several threads on Houzz about staining from water, oils, leaving footprints and its high-maintenance regimen. We've got kids and dogs; I've got a husband who likes to tinker with tools and do outdoor projects (basically trailblazing dirt and water all over) so we MUST have something that can withstand heavy traffic and a missed drop of mud without ruining the finish. Any recent experiences with either line is greatly appreciated or if you have a different brand to recommend, PLASE help!
