How to remove mark from fireclay sink?

I am remodeling my kitchen. It seems like the countertop installer might have damaged the front of my new Blanco Cerana II fireclay farmhouse sink (See pic). I tried wiping with damp cloth and even tried a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Neither worked. Any ideas what else I could try? I called Blanco customer support and they basically said there was nothing I could do. It doesn't seem like a deep, penetrating scratch.

Barkeeper's Friend? It's good for metal marks and I bet that's what you've got there. Belt buckle! :)

Acetone on a rag; if that doesn't work, then acetone on a Gray Scotch Brite.

my3apples, I've honed a carrara top using the powder, made into a paste. Now when I want to remove an etch, I use a sanding sponge--an old one that has most of the 'grit' worn off, with a bit of water. Make sure you start with a high grit sponge, or better yet, get two, and rub them together until they are fairly smooth. ***Warning, first use this method on a sample piece, or in an out-of-the-way area.*** My top has a slight, hand-polished sheen, so I rub until it blends. In my experience, the longer the sanding time, the higher the sheen. I've also wet-sanded with 600 grit paper. Again, try it on a sample first. Now, if anyone has a hint about how to get rid of star dings, please let me know. My younger daughter (24yrs old) was playing with three of those hematite-type chatter magnets, and dropped them on the island counter. The marks look just like Orion's belt. Kids :[

Or more precisely, condensation trapped between the wood and the finish. It usually dissipated over time (months) as the moisture is absorbed by the wood but there are things you can do for a quicker fix. The cloths mentioned work pretty well on light blushes. For a more aggressive fix on heavier clouding, you can place a chemise over the affected area and apply gentle heat using an iron. If you've never done it before, I would try some scrap piece first, but it's extremely effective, quick, and permanent. For the professional... using a chinese food carton with hot water in it will help produce some really good water marks to practice on. The wax in the paper (as it is heated) makes an excellent surface seal to help drive condensation under the finish. The mayo trick is just a short term fix... saturating the finish with oils so refractive light hides the blemish. As the oils dissipate, the blush becomes visible again.

Well, I actually called Rohl tonight just out of curiosity to ask what they recommend. The guy said I could use Soft Soap. When I asked about BKF, he said that would probably be fine, applied on a sponge (but to watch out for scratching the disposal flange or any metal with it). I asked about my husband's natural bristle brush idea and he kind of shuddered and said a Scotch pad would be as rough as he would get (despite the sink's scratch "resistance"). And he suggested the Astonish cleanser that is sold through Rohl dealers for getting off any spots or those gray marks from pots. I tried some BKF tonight and it took the dull grimey haze right off so I'll probably stick with that. Thanks again for input.

I think these have come with use over the 20 years these countertops have been around. They are yellow discoloration marks in quite a few places. Then it is probably time to replace them. No way to know if those are burn marks, rust stains or chemicals from personal care items. I would try Bar Keeper's Friend or a stronger phosphoric acid cleaner (those used for removing hard water deposits.) If those don't do anything, then you can rule out rust.

I agree with trying barkeep's friend, if that doesn't work, acetone. check before you can use a scrubby like scotch brite, it might be considered too abrasive for fireclay. not sure.

I use barkeep's friend and a plastic scrubby cloth (like this one) on my enamel cookware and it gets everything out without damaging it.

be careful what you use magic erasers on as well. it's basically like super fine grit sandpaper. probably wouldn't damage that sink, but you'll want to be cautious what things you do use it for.

Try rubbing gently with a damp rag sprinkled with Bon Ami powder.

Try Astonish oven cookware and cleaner. My Shaw fireclay sink was marked also when the countertop was installed. I contacted Rohl and this is what they recommended for their fireclay sink. You can buy on amazon. Use it with a green scrubby. Good luck.
