squash and zuchinni care

Just looking for some general care tips on squash. I have about 15 plants this year and they've done fantastic so I can't complain but I'd like to extend it as much as possible. I have new growth on many of them while the old growth is wilting away at the bottom. Should I cut them off? I didn't know if they would be open to pests at that point.

I've already been battling powdery mildew, squash bugs, and cuc beetles. I might have borers in some too, i havent looked too hard
