I didn’t get a pic of my glass when they were blooming but here is Lycoris (surprise lily) blooming the other day.

These are from a couple of years ago; this year they are just starting to show color but haven't opened up yet. They are a little late this year. My photos from previous years are dated July 11 and July 16 when they were in full bloom and nearing their peak.

Had a short storm last night, this was after it. That is our pontoon on the river we live on.

I had planted lots of Gladiolus at our Oklahoma house. They were gorgeous! Till the darn gophers discovered that they loved the taste of the bulbs! They ate every single one. Left the daffodils! I might try a few here.

Critters won't eat daffodils as they're poisonous, so my Dad made an oval flower bed with the glads in the middle surrounded by daffodils...they never did find their way to the glads.

The one thing our deer won't touch is the daffs. Now and then a fawn will try one, but one taste is all it takes and they leave them alone. Makes me think daffs or their sap are bitter or taste bad in some other way.

Yea, those underground critters love bulbs. That's a shame, Moni. I'm luckythat we don't have ground squirrels, moles or gophers where I live.

Daffodils are poisonous--deer, voles, etc leave them alone. Other bulbs that will be safe from critters include Snowdrops, Chionodoxa, Scilla, Lycoris, Colchicums.

Bulbs don't do well here. Here is an old photo from Colorado.
