Shower has no tub any ideas for inexpensive tub that drains?
Comments (3)Of course my dogs are small, so I just use an oval galvanized tub. No drain required. But you can take a similar galvanized washtub which is round and would fit in your shower. Drill a hole low on the side and mount a drain plug in it. Then you can drain almost the entire tub and tump over any remaining in the bottom before you carry the tub outdoors. Also, consider getting a plastic tote at the dollar store and do the same thing with it. Not very durable, but you can learn on it anyway. Then do something more durable the next go-round....See MoreWhich Kohler tub drain for Toto tub?
Comments (2)Your plumbing supply house appears to be right on this one. Take a look at the Kohler spec. sheet for the K-7161. On the 2nd page Kohler has written in that the 17" - 24" tub height means an overflow height of 14 3/4" - 21 1/2". From your tub dimensions, your overflow height is 15 1/4", so the K-7161 should be fine. Good job, though, double-checking everything - that's how problems are caught :)....See MoreHow Do You Remove and Replace a Bath Tub Drain?
Comments (1)For Replace of the Bath tub Drain, should have the appropriate tools and equipment. you'll need a tub drain wrench. You will also need plumber's putty and a new drain. Remove the plug. Using pliers, grab onto the plug and twist, in a counter-clockwise direction untill the plug comes out of the hole. Use the tub wrench. Place the wrench into the hole, and using a counterclockwise motion, unscrew the drain flange and pull it up and out. Prepare the drain flange for installation. Smear plumber's putty under the flange rim. In order to ensure a water tight seal, this is a necessary step. Install the new drain, in to the hole. Screw in the stopper, until it is fully inserted into the new drain.Test your bathtub drain-stopper. Turn on the water If it holds water, your repair is successful. If not, Contact the Local contractor and get suggestions. Here is a link that might be useful: General Contractor...See Moreclogged bath tub drain
Comments (6)This reaffirms once again that plumbers chase cars and lick themselves in public. IMO,the guy is liable for ruining your tub. If you want to hear more on that, say so. A self respecting professional would have used a sump pump to remove the mess created in the standing water. It would be realy presumptuous to say I know how to fix it when I havn't seen the place but anyone calling themself a plumber should after examining the home. To answer your question "is there really a "TRAP" that clogs up?????",yes it's common and usually requires only a plunger to clear. If you decide to remove your neighbor's ceiling you might try this first. Ask at the hardware store for a device that is attached to a garden hose and forced as far as possible into clogged pipe where it swells and pressurizes when water is turned on to hose. Remove the plate from end of tub between drain and facuets to expose the pipe for insertion. There is some risk of pressure disjointing a pipe and wetting downstairs ceiling but you were going to replace it anyhow. There is far better odds the pipe will be cleared without incident and you save yourself lots of ceiling repair. Kousea, before you try this, instead of pushing hose blaster into pipe, stuff a wet cloth into it then plunge the drain opening in bottom of tub....See More- 4 years ago
