Would the mirrored dresser replace the current black one? To answer your question, the current dresser is a bit tall considering the headboard but if you clear it off and have some breathing room between the mirror and dresser, it might look better. It really depends on how it feels to you. Does it feel claustrophobic in any way? As for the nightstands, an inch above the mattress top can look fine. Trust your eye.

Here are the master bedroom measurements and layout you requested. Bedroom is 13' 5" wide x 12' 1" long, from dresser wall to side of the bed is 57" and from the end of the bed to wall is 67". I have a large credit with Homesence that I would like to use up first before shopping on line but would like to see pictures of items and colors of items that you suggest. The dresser can be replaced and the big one can go into another bedroom. The doors, trim, banister and cabinetry in the house are all stained a reddish oak which I may get to changing the doors but may not. I am willing to go about $400.00 on the two nightstands.

You mention HomeSense. Are you in Canada? I don't know what you need in terms of bedside storage but if your current ones work for you (can't see them well), you could keep them and paint them to change their look (if you're up for some DIY). It's nice to work with what we have. Seems you have enough room between your bed and the dresser wall that the mirrored dresser at 18" deep wouldn't be too big. 'Go' in terms of colour, style? If your tables fit and are good quality, have you thought of painting them? The lines are simple enough. Glossy white paint with new hardware will give them a totally new look.

A dresser with matching night tables will work in terms of making things easier for you but people here will tell you it's too matchy-matchy and doesn't look good. I find it can be difficult to find different yet harmonious elements so my opinion is: it's your room, find furniture that works for your style and budget. Good quality furniture is getting expensive.

I think that's a fine idea. I don't see the point of buying new furniture when the current one meets storage and quality needs. Don't know if you've been shopping for bedroom furniture in the stores but what I saw this year was pretty exorbitant for the quality. Seeing your matching dresser though, I don't think I'd want to paint anything or change the hardware. They look to be very good quality Arts & Craft/Mission style. Am I seeing correctly? If so, that's worth keeping intact! I'm of the school of thought of reusing what works and don't always ascribe to what's dated or outdated. Hi there here is my bedroom. I've brought back my oak dresser and night tables. Each piece has black handles. I may eventually switch out the headboard to a beige one. Which lamp on the bedside tables is the best choice and what do you think if the pics hung with 3" of space between them. Should I still go with some gold accessories?

I had thought with the rectangular shaped one I'd do a black lumbar pillow with two gold ones, and a light gold throw. And with the other two I'd do blue pillows and pink ones with one color or the other throw. I find the rectangular one the most. But the other one adds color. Should I do black curtain panels with either choice?

I wouldn't be tempted by black curtains in a bedroom unless I was going for a very dark moody vibe. If you're keeping the white bedding, why not go for white curtains? Really depends on the overall look and feel you want, I think.

night and I got another idea. (I know I'm all over the place) what do you think of making the bed the focal point of the room and replacing the white duvet with a colourful patterned one and Possibly skipping a picture above the headboard.

Traditionally, the bed is the focal point of a bedroom and that's usually achieved by making sure it's placed in the best spot in the room and having the headboard wall draw the eye. (Focal point does not necessarily mean pattern.) Feel free to skip the picture above the headboard if you find the headboard is substantial enough to command attention. (Pictures don't always convey these things accurately so you need to develop your eye to look at your room objectively and trust your taste.) A patterned duvet could also be nice but it all depends on you and the vibe you're seeking in the room. Some people tire quickly of patterns. Others love them forever. There's more than one way to achieve a pleasing bedroom and loads of options out there so being all over the place is par for the course whenever we contemplate change. At least, it is for me. (You should see my Pinterest boards for my little bedroom revamp!)

My suggestion to you is to describe the room you want in a few words then decide on your starting point. Most designers will tell you that should be the bed. Figure out your budget and what's staying and you now have your change parameters. Keep your end picture (be it a feeling or a look) in mind to guide you as you choose elements. For example, let's say the vibe you're seeking is "romantic" and you fall in love with a bold geometric duvet. You'll need to ask yourself if this duvet jibes with "romantic" as you pictured it.

Have you thought of pairing the blue fluffy pillows with that floral duvet cover? You say it's not the right blue? You're the best judge of that. Hard to determine colours accurately in pictures via a screen.

"Calming" and "wow". Ok. What makes you go "wow" when you see a room? That's what you need to define for yourself. Is it simply that it's "done" and looks intentional or is it particular colours, materials, textures? Besides fluffy pillows and throws, what's on your list? The more you can define these elements for yourself, the easier it will be to finish the room. As for the pictures above the headboard, do you LOVE these options? I'm a big proponent of original artwork but a bigger proponent of getting anything that you LOVE for your walls. That can certainly include pieces from big box stores. I mean, someone somewhere created the piece. It's nice to see evidence of that with a signature on the piece. Otherwise, maybe it's just too generic to be in your most personal room? That's my take on it anyway.

Hi I followed what you said. This is the bed now and I love it! It goes well with the oak furniture and the charcoal headboard. I brought home a dark purple sheet set but you can hardly see it with the black headboard so I think I will change it for a bluish green set and a purple duvet and a purple throw pillow. White curtains. Should I use a white or gold rod and what are your thoughts in all of it?
