Changing the color of metal lamp bases

This is one of two lamps with metal bases. I've already ordered new white drum shades so now I need to change the color of the bases. I'd like them to have a soft antiqued pewter look but I am not sure how to accomplish this.

The walls are gray with white crown, trim & moldings, medium gray leather couches with toss pillows in yellow & gray, warm brown hardwood floors.

I don't want them to look silver (too fancy) and I've heard about the black paint base then a light coat of the RNB, or using a "dry brush" technique to achieve the antiqued look, but I have no idea what dry brush technique means. I like these lamps and after looking at hundreds of lamps and not finding anything, I need some advice/help.

The color of the frame on this mirror is what I'd like to achieve. Thanks in advance!

Pam
