Need help with exterior color/design Brady bunch house!
Comments (34)Please don't be afraid to try something if you like it. The more you delve into your projects, the more experienced and creative you will get. And lukki for you, you have found the forum(s) early on. At the start a fixer upper can be really overwhelming, especially to someone without experience; I found it was easier to focus on one project at a time (like fixing the leaks in the roof) and was surprised at how quickly it started to come together. It wasn't as stressful that way too. You said initially you have the inside sort of figured out, I would love to know what you have planned and see pictures. I prefer older homes because they are usually more generous with storage and space, I bet the inside of yours has open and generous rooms with lots of potential. From the outside, it looks like a real gem in the rough. Which of the pictures are you drawn to? We bought a vacant foreclosure home in 2006. When I showed it to my DH and said I was in love, he thought I was nuts. But in my mind I could see most of it in it's finished state and it felt like home. We've come a long way, the interior is about 80% done, and right now we are focused on the exterior....See More70's Contemporary in Need of Exterior Help
Comments (16)Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions! I read some amazing ideas! I am still not completely sure on the color I want, but my favorite ideas and things I will most likely consider and do is installing an iron railing by the entryway, replacing the light fixtures, removing the concrete basket, adding stone siding somewhere to the front, and painting the trim and maybe garage doors a different color than the house. I kind of like keeping the original garage doors, but wouldn't mind considering replacing them with modern doors. Adding larger windows around the entryway and above the garage is also a great idea, but that would probably cost us a fortune lol. Does anyone have an idea on where on the house to install stone siding? I really like that idea. Stone with cedar and metal railings would really create some depth and make the house look even more contemporary....See MoreHow to update stairs to a contemporary coastal feel
Comments (2)I think the grey wash will be a mistake. The floor is the biggest issue and IMO in the most need of an update. Painting the stairs ( or at least the risers and columns) white will help make the room feel more coastal. Really though you'll achieve the coastal design through furniture and decor....See MoreHelp Please - Best Exterior Colors for Prairie Contemporary Elevation
Comments (23)Funny. Who knew the internet needed things so drawn out. Benjamin Moore Storm Not a bowel movement nor a 💩storm The reality is to the OP the colour that looks good on your home needs to be your choice, in the light and location you have. Get some samples, paint some big pages and see what works. We did not have storm as our top choice before doing the samples. There are so so many grey colours...See MoreJudyG Designs
