Safe Way to 'Test Paint' cabinets?
Comments (1)I think you have to go right or left on this=try painting some door interiors or things like your pullouts to get an idea of what you want with the paint. Take two doors off their hinges, paint the interior panel to your liking then stand them next to the cabinets to get some sense of the look. If you like the result, then do it all, without looking back. I can't imagine you will want to start stripping cabinets again in 10 years, unless they're fine furniture worth zillions of dollars. But then again, if they were, you probably wouldn't be painting them in the first place....See MoreBest way to prep 1 ext. wall only for testing new paint colors
Comments (1)Dirtex would even be fine or just plain water and a scrub brush. All you want to do is remove the surface dirt that has collected there so that the paint will stick to the siding without the dirt being in the way. You only want to use TSP is you plan on rinsing the areas you cleaned very well....See MoreBest white paint color for cabinets/trim in North facing rooms
Comments (34)Oh Gosh! I'm going though the same thing. I'm leaning towards Simply White in my north-facing room. I know it can read really yellow in a south-facing room but a warm but still really bright in a north facing room with that cool light coming in. I'm afraid Chantilly white will read too stark. I'm painting both my bedroom and kitchen, one on top of the other with the same northern light. Also, I think of it as a color for modern spaces and I live in an old, historic house. Just not sure I can pull it off. Abbyfaye, I'd love to see your pictures! I have simply white in my hallways and like it. Is it weird to have it in my bedroom and kitchen too? I got samples from samplize and white dove comes across really greige/taupe and not very bright. I'm not loving it at all. Mystery to me why it is so popular. I'm losing my mind looking at blogs on the best white paint! Have to make a decision by Thursday!...See MoreBest way to paint and lacquer dining room chairs!
