Has anyone on East Coast ever tried Quercus ilex?
Comments (54)I just wanted to post that I was out at the National Arboretum a few weeks ago. The large Q. acutas looked like they sustained some damage from teh past winter. Some twig and a few branches died back. Sad to see. But they will certainly survive. The Q. salicina looked like it had NO damage at all surprisingly. I have never seen acorns on them. Interestingly the Q. phillyreoides had some acorns. No apparent dieback. They all looked rather shrubby to me and not large single trunked trees. L. henyri and Q. myrsinifolias looked just fine. Q. glauca specimens at the Arboretum have all had a rough go of it over the years. Numerous diebacks. Pretty pathetic. They should really not be grown up here. But maybe they got some northern provenance stock that they wanted to try. I didn't see where they were from. Unrelated, but all the hollies looked great. Even Ilex latifolia. The Ilex latifolia in my yard looks great as well. No apparent winter damage. A small amount of leaf spot but overall I was very pleased. Comments (1)Sounds interesting. Most nitrogen fixing bacteria that I know of have a symbiotic relationship with plant roots, typically legumes. The nitrogen is released when the cover crop is turned under (killed). I'd be curious if Azos is similar and if so, how would it make the fixed nitrogen available to the garlic....See MoreHas anyone ever tried selling their house on eBay?
Comments (8)I love to look at property on ebay. I actually inquired about one of them, too, although it was really a pipe dream and I had no business buying a beach cottage in Nova Scotia. I quickly came to my senses when realized how far Nova Scotia is from where I live now. I don't know how often serious, non-dreamer buyers look on ebay. I doubt anyone will buy your house on ebay. It's an advertising tool. Also, ebay's fees combined with Paypal have gotten pretty enormous and I think you would pay more in fees total to ebay than you would to a RE agent. But $150 for 30 days of advertising reaching a gazillion peeps...that might be worth trying, depending on what sort of property it was. I was looking at beach property, muppy had interested parties but was selling horse property...those are much more exotic than just a regular house in a regular area. I never ever look for those. I can see those walking out my front door. I have bought and sold a few homes and my opinion is that for your first sell, the professional help of a REA might be an excellent idea. Good luck with your sell with whatever you decide :-) Joanna...See MoreHas anyone ever tried the "Beyond Diet"
Comments (3)Me again- The routine is going to be a bit different for each person- we generally try to avoid saying "one plan fits all". Age, gender, general health, food allergies and more factors play a hand in determining your program. Also important- we have registered dietitians that will help you settle in and answer questions but check with your family doctor first. We have a page you can look at that covers the (really long) video that you watched: 5 foods to never eat plus articles that you can look through without spending any money- and you can drop in on the forums too- see what our members are talking about before you take the plunge. If it looks like a fit for you, great! And remember there is a 60 day money back guarantee- most people will know in about 5-6 weeks if this is the best plan for them so you will have time to really try it out. If you have any questions- please ask- I'll answer them to the best of my ability. Remember- weight loss is not a quick fix thing- it's a "Lifestyle" thing... you need to change your life for the better to succeed. If you have the will, we can probably help you find the way. :) Regardless of your decision, I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss efforts....See MorePerma n’ Posies/9A FL
