I can only see your space so well. But thoughts are…if your budget is super tight. Wood floors are beautiful and I love the wall color. Sofas looks very good so is floor lamp. You need an area rug. The trick to make a room bigger is have the rug 4 to 6 inches from the walls on both sides (sofa and bookcase side). What I do for budget jobs is buy wall-to-wall loop carpet in a texture or could be a pattern. Then have it cut to fit the room and bound with cotton tape that comes in many colors. I am not a big fan of big graphic prints on rugs - it only works in certain spaces and the are so expensive. Sofas, rugs and built-in lighting are the big ticket items so then you have solved 3 out of 3. I see the recessed lighting looks good. Items in cut out niches are too small. No items or one big vase in each or such. Bookcase needs work. Not crazy about it but sort of hard to see. Get the items off the top. The bookshelves need to be restocked with an eye to how they look. Quite frankly a plan would really help. Looks like the sofa sticks out further than the love seat which is weird. You may need to sell the love seat and but a big lounge chair for that spot. Stairway needs help but then you're talking construction which is bucks. So hard to say more without more images or plans with the furniture pieces shown to scale.

It's likely you viewed the sample in the store under fluorescent lights which accounts or the difference when they arrived at your home. So the sofas stay. All you can now do is change the paint and items around the sofas and make sure all selections are made in the same light as your home. The green you see is not apparent in your photos, but it can be safely mentioned that ant addition of red or orange tones will enhance the green so stay away from that. Don't bother with the sofa legs which are hidden in the shadows.

Wow thank you for all the feedback. In regards to the colour of the sofa, I'd say it verges on the taupe end of the scale but it's more of a beige/biscuit colour than a pinkish hue. BeverlyFLADeziner, I LOVE some of the designs you've shared - in particular the top two from Atlanta Homes. This is a very similar look to what we're going for in the other living room where we're keeping everything very neutral. I suppose I'm torn between recreating this look in the snug (which is a different style of space - low ceilings, small room, less natural light) or trying something completely different altogether....

IMO very much in a stlye you like with the light wood and the gray can be used for sure .I do not think Scandanavian has to be all white decor both of thse are good examples
