Need helping picking out paint color for tween girls bathroom...
Comments (6)That shower curtain is pretty intense. Are you sure you want to keep it? It's just a little "precious" for older girls with that much pink, IMHO. The only color that I think could stand up to it with older girls would be a pretty bright orange, and try for a Morroccan casbah look with even more pattern and color and brass hanging lanterns and screens. Layer a cobalt blue curtain under the pink and use some metallic chains for the tieback for the pink curtain. Paint the ceiling turquoise. You can get some talavera or Turkish tiles on Ebay and frame them for an accent. If you have a drop in sink, you could replace it with a talavera one. They aren't that expensive and give lots of style. Cobalt blue bath accessories and rug with other hints of turquoise and pink here and there and it would be fab. As an alternqative, I could definately see doing a fun apple green and white bathroom, but not with that curtain. For green and white, use the chair rail/wainscoating approach and put the green below with white above. A fresh gingham check or ticking stripe for the shower curtain and add in more color with different shades of green towels. A dark green rug and various green accessories would complete the look....See MoreNeed help picking a bathroom paint color
Comments (6)orb = oil rubbed bronze My woodlawn bedroom is northeast facing so the light is not strong. It looks blue in the morning and greener late in the day and when the lights are on. I expect using a cooler color bulb would bring out the blue. With a small vanity you can go looking for a left over piece of stone for the counter top. Get an undermount sink to match the toilet. Check out Mirror Mate. They make custom cut frames that adhere to the existing mirror and look great for a modest price. I think the woodlawn would work well with the browns in the floor and vanity. You could also consider going with a green shade like BM Misted Green....See MorePlease Help! Need help picking tile for bathroom remodel.
Comments (15)My opinion will be biased because I have very similar tile in my master we redid 12 years ago. 4" squares on the diagonal for the shower floor and 12" squares on main floor and up the shower walls. Coincidentally we are in process of redoing my kids' bath the past few weeks (it was also redone 12 years ago) because a hard-to-find leak in the tub prompted us to consider replacing it....which then brought about the issue of replacing the tiled tub-surround that would be damaged...and we would also have to try to retile some spots on the floor because a new tub would be a smaller footprint leaving some bare spots once old tub was pulled out. My point is that we also had to figure out the whole, "do we do an updated 'patch job' to save a lot of money, or do we just gut it and accept the cost as the price of being at peace with it/enjoying a new look and improved function. Right or wrong...which is always a very subjective thing....we gutted it and I'm thrilled. I was not interested in painting my cabinets just to have them have peel-issues due to steam, and we also got rid of the tub altogether and opted for a stand-up/walk-in shower for my older kids. Resale was considered on this issue...but by the time we move, someone can either love it as we've made it, or we will price the house with an "allowance" in mind. The old space had hot-chocolate colored walls and 'slate' porcelain floor and tub surround...an overall warm and cozy feel but also tired and dated. The new space is a porcelain 'marble' hex with white subway walk-in shower that is awaiting glass doors...an overall calming feeling that is also bright and fresh. I now actually wish SO BADLY that I was able to redo/retile MY whole bathroom (tile similar to yours). And there's nothing wrong with my bathroom, and a planned paint job on the walls will help me like it even more...... In my kids' bathroom, however, even unfinished with the floor and shower tile installed just waiting for the rest to come together (waiting on backordered tile base moulding) ......... I walk in and just smile and breathe deeply because of the way the space now makes me feel :) So my very biased vote is to gut it ;) ;)...See MoreNeed help picking bathroom paint color
Comments (3)Do you have the vanity already? Do you know the paint colour on it or can you find a match close to it with a paint deck? The easiest thing is to follow the paint colour suggestions that the paint companies offer on their websites. For example. The vanity looks a little like Benjamin Moore North Sea CC-932. The suggested coordinating colours are: BM Blue Heather - 1620 BM - Weimaraner - AF-155 BM - Meadow Mist - 936 Based on the BM coordinating colours, I think the SW Rain might be a really nice choice. But the best thing is to get some samples and try it in the space....See MoreShirley Penney
