I have a small galley-type kitchen...The house is old...I replaced with white kitchenaid dishwasher yrs ago and a white maytag with black top stove. Our frig is old and so this was the next appliance to replace. It was white also. However, I hated this big white side-by-side Sears Frig. I didn't want to buy stainless steel...thought it would stick out like a big bullet in my galley kitchen. Didn't want white either...too blah and hard to clean. So, I bought a pretty black stainless steel (sorta muted black on front) Whirlpool french door-type frig...I LOVE IT..it's the kind that doesn't show fingerprints...So, now....I wonder what color to paint my old oak cabinets with this old, but nice beigy, salmon color corian countertop...Anybody want to take a stab at this???? I can't replace the white other appliances...they are too new...but the black top stove does look nice with the frig...the dishwasher is across the aisle from them in white...

I have stainless sink, fridge and double ovens; black cooktop on dark granite and black DW next to cherry cabinets.The ovens are on a separate wall; the fridge is at the end of a cabinet run and the dishwasher is in the middle of the cabinets. I didn't like the stainless DW from the PO and so went black on purpose. I really do like the mix. I don't think of them so much as "appliances" and so must all match, but rather how they look distributed in various parts of the room (a black fridge would suck the air out of my small kitchen and black double ovens would be on a painted brick wall and I didn't want a "black hole" there).

I do not like black or stainless steel in the kitchen. They are HORRIBLE to keep clean. They look sterile and depressing to me. A kitchen should be bright, warm, welcoming and homey. It's where women gather to hang out at a party. It's the food of nurturing. White appliances are SO EASY to clean with a damp sponge and are bright and happy and don't look industrial. There, I've said it. Fashion isn't worth the time it takes to CLEAN it.

Bisque was around for almost 40 years, not the same as the avocado & harvest gold. Makers better get on the stick, some of us hate SS with a passion. WTF wants a SS appliance with black or gray sides. They do it to make money. White, black & bisque are the way to go. You'd have thought SS would have gone by now, LOL, but they just keep making them cheaper looking. My Saturday rant at this crap. Have a great day.
