Does anyone know what this discoloration on my kumquat tree is?
Comments (3)I have been growing meiwa kumquats from seed. They are consistently attacked by spider mites. I believe that the roots do not change their nutrient formulation to defend itself against pest and this is why they are near impossible to grow from seed. I am curious if you have picture of your tree when it was doing very well. Has it produce fruit yet. Al my kumquat tree have died. They put on a growth spurts of significance harden off loose all the leave and die back to 6 inches and then put on beautiful growth. Harden off then infestation takes of every leaf. This stripping growing process happens 2 time a year and my tree went from 8 inches to 30 inches back to 8 they grow to 30 and die back to 8. Comments (2)Sec. Triflora rhododendron such as Rhododendron augustinii. If you go walk around the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden while yours is in flower you may encounter same or similar there, with labeling. If you decide to do this snip a flowering sample twig, put it in a small portable container with water in the base, to keep your specimen hydrated and take it with you. So you can hold it next to similar plants at the garden to see if they are exactly the same as yours. http://rhodygarden.org/cms/...See MoreWhat is wrong with my Green Gage Plum?
Comments (4)No, it will not go away. It is a permanent fixture at this point and can eventually weaken the tree to the point of it dying. It could spread to the peach but not that likely. It is primarily associated with plums and cherries and rarely with any other stone fruits....See MoreDoes anyone know what’s going on with my rose?
Comments (17)Jena, my Perle d’Or did the bud drop thing it’s first year, the whole year. A lot of my roses also had chlorosis, including Perle d’Or, even though they were getting regular Magnesium-sulfate and I was alternating between Miracle Grown and a seaweed fertilizer, all in the hopes of curing them of chlorosis. Mostly it was the Polyanthas and Multifloras that had this problem. Finally I sent in a sample for a soil test. I had plenty of all the minerals and nutrients except for Nitrogen (which I already knew since its obviously devoid of any organics and so I was fertilizing) and absolutely zero Manganese (Mn) detected. Once I put a teaspoon of Manganese Sulfate dissolved in a gallon of water on each rose last fall the chlorosis completely disappeared and Perle d’Or stopped dropping buds. I will now do this once or twice a year; not too often since Mn is a minor nutrient and too much can be toxic. The Miracle grow I was using did have trace Mn, but somehow it wasn’t enough. I wonder if my soil was just binding it up? This just demonstrates that bud drop could be due to lack of an essential nutrient. It might not necessarily be Manganese for you. But since you mention the Kellogg soil might not be that great, I would give it a nice dilute liquid fertilizer once a week and see if it cures it....See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
