Looking for ideas on how to enclose the area under my shed
Comments (4)We are contemplating using the Heavy lattice (wire screen stapled to it on the back side). It is expensive, around $42.00 for a 4x8. We are thinking for the front and back and cinderblocks on each side with concrete blocks that go over the holes. Ours is only about 6-12 inches off the ground. Would that keep the rats from setting up house under it? We live in a rural area where, really any varmet could live....See MoreStorage under seat in shower?
Comments (11)olychick - interesting, but I'm not sure I understand what I am seeing, expecially in the 2nd pic. The first seems to have an opening, like an alcove or niche, under the seat. I can't tell - it almost looks like it has a glass front. If so that makes no sense to me. The 2nd I totally don't understand, unless it was taken before work was complete. I don't see any glass walls. So it looks entirely open. The "seat" does look interesting if it is open. The storage wold seem to be accessed from the outside. Or maybe that is hiding space for shutoff controls. In any case that wouldn't work for me. Melissa - now that you mention that, it does sound like a good way to go. That way the seat is fixed with no moving parts to break. And as you say, the bin could be replaced. And it could still look good. Thanks for that idea!...See Morebest way to add a storage under deck

Comments (9)Thanks Trudy. I don't think I'd get any truly impactful useable space by just extending out the final 3' to the edge of the porch. I'd run into lots of pushback from dh and our architect if I were to try to bump out the other direction so it is probably a no-go. We did have the foundation designed to enclose in the future, as well as setting the height of the bottom of the support beams for the porch roof structure to slightly higher than the interior ceiling height. I just don't see enclosing it, ever. It's an old craftsman-style house with all the detailed trim added in (dh even hand planed the 2" thick by 12" wide railing tops). We do love the outdoor covered area and would hate to give it up. Rains here a lot; covered space is good. I think I'll just enjoy it as is....See MoreB Carey
