Bluestone vs High Country sizes
Comments (8)I've ordered from and recommend both. I think the sizes are comparable as well. I am nearer HCG and their plants are suited to our less then ideal growing conditions. I've never had any complaints with the quality of plants nor seeds from HCG. Last year was my first time ordering from B, during the sale, and was shocked that they would ship on a Friday during 100 degree weather - in the 90s there and near 100 here. Order arrived on a Wed and if they had waited until Monday to ship, the order would've arrived on Thurs. Plants spent two extra days in some hot truck or warehouse. Some plants arrived with the greenery all mushy - like rotten spinach. I removed that and planted - in the nasty hot weather - stupid I know (now). Everything took really well, which tells me the plants were strong and healthy at shipping. If they would have died, B customer service would have shipped new plants - excellent but not necessary....See MoreOrders UP!! What I have coming this fall
Comments (13)Ronda: I of course echo everyone's well wishes for you and your sister. I'm sure your sister will be glad to have you over the course of the next few months. I love the idea that you are planting roses for her. On your list for her I only know Julia Child and Country Dancer. So let me ask, is any of those an apricot? If not you might consider one I have new this year called 'What a Peach'. An interesting rose that hypothetically does not get real tall but has an upright structure and beautiful sprays of small, peachy/apricot flowers. It really is charming. Blooms a lot and often and for me has been very low maintenance. It does require a lot of dead heading so if you don't think she will be up to that then you may want to pass on this one for now. Otherwise this is a great little rose that makes me smile when I walk around the yard in the morning. I hope all will be well with your sister. Kate...See MoreYikes....orders are coming in....
Comments (18)Still raining here today :-(. If you want some rain, come for a visit and bring some buckets. I only have 3 more plants coming from 3 different sellers and I can only hope we get a break soon but I doubt it. One seller notified me they are delayed in shipping and I was happy. Can you imagine being happy when your shipment will be delayed. Suppose to continue like this for a few more days. Good news...I don't have to mow the lawn LOL. So here are the names of doubles I got: FIRES OF FUJI DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU PENNY PINSLEY ALABAMA WILDFIRE CASTLE ROSE BELLE FORTY SECOND STREET PEACH MAGNOLIA ROYAL EVENTIDE I can't even get the vegetable garden started. Who wants to rototill mud? Will take some time today and finish printing labels for the markers. At least rain doesn't delay that. I wonder if this will be like the summer of 2009. Cold and rainy.......yuck. Julia...See MoreAnyone ordered from High Country Gardens????
Comments (12)I order from them at least twice a year and since I live in NM I can drive to their nursery occasionally. Always top-quality plants and outstanding customer service. All plants shipped in pots, always on time and some perennials with 18" stems. Every plant I've ever received has been healthy with a good-sized root system. Plants are guaranteed and you will ALWAYS get an answer on the phone or email. After reading about some of the nightmares some folks have gone thru with mail-order plants it's good to know there's a nursery out there that DOES care about customer service and quality....See Morewindymess z6a KC, Ks
