Rug pad for dash and Albert

I just bought a large dash and Albert indoor/outdoor rug for under my dining table. I really love it! I want to buy a runner of the same woven style but in different colors for in front of the doors to the patio. I just bought the pad recommended on the website for the big rug because the table will keep it in place anyway. But for the runner, It’s a high traffic area because it’s the route my kids use to take the dog out. I’ve read mixed reviews about the success of rugs pads to keep them from slipping. If you have a rug pad that works well, will you post where you found it? I’m assuming rug tape won’t stick to the polypropylene very well.

I’ve ordered many pads from RugPadUSA.com and been quite happy. If you can’t figure out which one to use from their many choices, you can call and ask for a recommendation. I have one for a runner; it stays put.

Thank you, I did try searching for rug pads for polypropylene rugs but instead of finding rug pads for that particular material I found rug pads made of polypropylene. Maybe they have a better “rug pad guide.”

I usually just buy the rug pad that is recommended for the fiber but the Dash and Albert rugs pads aren’t sorted that way, with the recommendation for the rug type or fiber, just for the location of the rug. I’ve had issues with lightweight, woven rugs sliding around with rug pads before so hoping to prevent that.

Hi ttodd, I'm a big fan of Dash and Albert. We carry them in the shop. The throws have a texture, but are soft and comfortable to curl up in. I have given them away as gifts to be used for various reasons. I gave one to my father-in-law to keep in his car (he drives a lot in all weather). They are considered washable and I know if we had a problem with one we would take it back and let the company know, and I feel sure they'd replace it. I just ordered the D&A PET Arlington rug. Our local interior decorating store carries the D&A line and has nothing, but great things to say. Also, since they are specifically listed under the stair runners I would assume they are not slick. The large sample I saw in the store seemed to be good and will be soft underfoot. Did any of you who posted above order a runner?

WOW! That is horrible! The comments from others at the site are funny and quickly go awry; but this first one was cute - "Dazzle camouflage in its civilian setting." "Edit for more info: Dazzle camo aimed to confuse the observer as to ship type, heading, and speed - all crucial when you're a submarine trying to figure out where to shoot your unguided torpedo so it'll hit the target minutes later. However, dazzle schemes, due to their need for highly contrasting colours, are almost always contradictory to the desire for concealment - i.e. blending with the background. This particular scheme was an ad-hoc application that actually had some use in resolving this dilemma, though discovered only after it was applied. Basically, alternating black and white stripes would blend together into a low-visibility grey colour at long ranges, making them difficult to spot at long range. As the ship gets closer, however, the stripes resolve themselves, providing that confusion factor. Thus, it was a scheme that had the best of both worlds. In theory, you could even mathematically determine the ratio of black and white so that you know the distance at which they blend into grey, making them useful for different conditions. However, they never realized this until the submarine threat was basically over and dazzle schemes were no longer needed. Edit 2: this is from the Second World War."

I really like them because they're very low profile and do a great job keeping the rugs in place despite two large, crazy dogs.

Thanks, I ended up getting the 2x3 Dash and Albert Extra Grip and the 2x3 Amazon high performance rug pad. I’m going to try both on the small rug by my kitchen sink and then buy more of whichever works better for the runner.

I hope it works! I just threw an old C&B cotton rug by the sliding door when it rained last week (after I cleaned the floor), but I couldn’t find the pad and of course the whole thing slid out from under me. So I went down to the basement and tracked down a pad and a few hours later, the rug still slipped. It wasn’t as sudden and dramatic but still enough to make me grab the door frame when my small dog pulled on the leash.
