Hi Joshua, I actually have one clematis that has been growing for several years. It struggles in summer but the root section is nearly always shaded and I think that helps.

You might get better response if you post the common name of the plants. The only other one I can recognize is salvia and they do well here.

Hi Joshua, I just moved to Tucson last July from the San Francisco bay and love it! It is a far, far different gardening climate, but there are so many fantastic plants that thrive here. -Do you have a copy of the Sunset Western Garden Book? I find it just as useful here as I did in California, and it pretty much covers any plant I am considering adding to the garden.

Salvia clevelandii and Salvia greggii do very well here and are readily available. I would imagine that Romneya coulteri would do well, since it is adapted to the hot, dry conditions of the California chaparral. If by Pericallis you mean the plant commonly referred to as "Florist's Cineraria", I do see these sold in the nurseries in late winter/early spring, so I am sure you can grow them as a cool season annual in a moist, shady spot. However, they aren't going to naturalize as they do in San Francisco, which has the perfect climatic conditions for them.

The poppies and cosmos will do fine; A friend of mine seeds a bed of mixed annuals every year, that often includes bachelors' buttons, mixed poppies, sweet alyssum, etc. and they put on a lovely show.
