Need new pots/planters
Comments (8)I used root pouches one season and they look new. Leaving them outside for the winter, and I get winters here. I have obtained about 50 pots from going around in the spring and fall on garbage day. Some are fanatstic. I needed a very wide pot, about 2 feet wide and 1 foot deep. I found 3 of them in the trash! 2 slightly smaller ones were in the trash too. I need them for cacti. I have a giant brain cactus and grow it each year in a bird fountain outside. No pot would fit it. I would just put it on plastic for the winter. Well now I have a pot. Too bad it broke up on me before I could get it in! Oh well, now at least it can stay in a pot! Yeah! I got three of these pots now and two others that are about 18 inches wide, about 1 foot deep. I have been planting annuals in them, but will find a better use. In perfect shape too. Love it!...See MoreExcellent Clay pot prices
Comments (4)I bought, about two weeks ago, a bunch of clay pots at Old Time Pottery, at Colonial and Fowler. The 8-inch were $0.69, 12-inch, like a dollar, and some of the "big" pots were like $3. Not sure if this is still going on. Also got some really cool ones that are like 7" high and 6" across with an extra-wide rim, that are just kinda cool, for like $0.69....See MoreWhat is the most you will spend on a decorative pot or planter?
Comments (19)I like collecting tins and using them as planters, you can usually find deeper ones for anywhere from a quarter to a dollar at thrift stores, and if it's for a shallow rooted plant I'll use regular cookie tins and sand off the nutritional information. As counterintuitive as it seems my aloe vera plants seem to go crazy for tins without drainage holes (although I have to replace the tins every couple years due to rust). I also keep a look out for unglazed clay containers at yardsales I really live finding decorative catchalls that can work, and I horde glass jars for my herbs and pothos plants (I'm going to be honest, it's at the point where I buy foodstuffs based on their packaging)....See MoreCheap large planter pots?
Comments (8)What ajiajs says. If you are looking for them for a good price, you likely won't find them any cheaper than from now until about Thanksgiving. Most likely, you will find them by visiting the stores however. They probably won't advertise them specifically. Some stores just mark down all their garden center stuff a certain percentage, but other just mark individual items down... Visiting the stores is the best way to get in on those kind of deals. Walmart, Home Depot, Menards, Lowes, Target, Big Lots, Shopko, farm and fleet stores, etc.......See MorePaul MI
