Pottery Barn Flynn Lighting

I want to use the Flynn Pendant over my kitchen island in our new construction, but I don't know which size to use or how many. The island is 4x8. What are the typical "rules" to make this decision?
Here are the dimensions for the two lights:

Small Pendant:

Overall: 11.5" diameter, 15" high
Recommended ceiling height: 6’
Chain: 6’
Cord: 8’
Canopy: 5" diameter, 1" high
Bulb: 100 watt Type A standard; also accommodates a 23 watt CFL (not included)
Weight: 6 pounds

Oversized Pendant:

Overall: 17" diameter, 23" high
Recommended ceiling height: 6’
Chain: 6’
Cord: 8’
Canopy: 5" diameter, 1" high
Bulb: 100 watt Type A standard; also accommodates a 23 watt CFL (not included)
Weight: 12.5 pounds

Also, off the kitchen is the dining room and living room. I'm looking for lighting for both of those as well that would look good with the Flynn Pendants. If I use the Flynn Pendant in the dining room as well is that too matchy matchy? I was thinking two small over the island and then the large one over the table...? Suggestions please!

I have 3 small Flynn pendants over my island. The island is 4 1/2 x 9 ft. I didn’t match my lighting in the nook and living. Instead, I just made sure they went well together - color and style?

Lynda, thank you so much for your comments and sharing pictures of your beautiful home! I actually just spoke to our builder and the electrician only wired for two pendants. So now I need to decide if I want two small Flynn’s or two large...

I’m not exactly sure of my style. I would say traditional and casual. I love most things pottery barn. My house is mostly neutral.

We just got a knock off of a pottery barn light at home depot...I was all set to go lighting direct, but the home depot ones were fine...Choose the light ou really want from PB and then just keep searching.... i was really shocked to see what a great copy the HD lights were, it is easy to pass by b/c there is quite a lot of builder grade stuff at HD, but you just never know.

I had two oversized Fynn pendants over my 6.5’ island before i renovated. That was perfect. We are in the middle of the reno and the island is now 10’. I am adding one more pendant. inthink that three large would be too much. Do either three small or two large.
