Foyer Window - New house
Comments (14)I actually had another question. The builder is has an option for a 3rd zone in the basement that will cost 7500. We were originally going to pass but now we found out that he will be insulating and finishing the basement ceiling. We have a walk out basement and would have around 1600 sq ft of finished space. Would this be a worthy upgrade? can we do this after the fact with the ceiling closed up? Would a mini split be a decent alternate for basement HVAC? This is in NJ....See MoreHow should we update the exterior paint& landscape on our new home
Comments (5)Find a paint chip card that has the colors of the lightest, medium and darkest bricks. Use the lightest color for the siding and the darkest for shutters. A new pinkish white will be fine for the trim that is already white. Test your samples on foamcore board cut to the width of the shutters....See MoreNew Build: how to create foyer when front doors open into living room
Comments (23)We are beyond disappointed in our architect. It has been a very frustrating process! I feel like we are at the point of no return though. We will be speaking with him tomorrow and we make a final decision then. To answer a couple of questions: the two staircases are bc the one in the playroom leads to an attic bedroom and the one in the mud room is going to a home office above the garage - it was supposed to be moved to the garage but wasn’t (more frustration). The Murphy door will likely be removed. I so badly wanted it to work out and thought it’d be a really cool feature but it’s making things more complicated. Again, the centering of the door was my idea to help the elevation work a little better. I would love for him to play around with the porch area/foyer to “make it work” but that’s just not who is is. Had I known this, we never would have hired him. Luckily I have a friend who has been very helpful (done most of the design work) but we’re both stumped here. Thank you everyone for the replies! If we end up changing dramatically I’ll post an update....See MoreHow to update exterior of our new home?
Comments (16)Thanks so much everyone for the input! You all have such wonderful ideas, I'm very excited! @cat_ky I am not sure whether it's stain or paint - I think paint (we're not in the house yet so I can't just pop out and take a look). @hallettco I think the white windows are vinyl. In terms of vision, I love a light and airy vibe - very indoor/outdoor feel. The interior will probably be some sort of modern farmhouse/coastal look. I would love for the exterior to work with that vision but I am really struggling to see how that would be possible. I think the stone and brown shingle roof are limiting. I was wondering whether we could paint the stone but I am not sure whether that would look weird. @Debbie Downer This is all great advice, thank you! I am not certain but I think the gold is a paint. A stain might look better but I don't know if it's possible to go from paint to stain. I am also not sure what type of wood the exterior is....See MoreHooves
