kitchen island help! I have no skills={
Comments (4)Your dining room looks lovely from the picture. I think I agree with homemaker. Try painting it (sand it some first to get the shiny finish off), then put some pretty knobs on it and use it as a buffet. It looks like your dining room table might be either black or very dark brown, so you could choose either a coordinating color or something very different so it would be a focal point. Home improvement stores also have those wooden decorative pieces you could glue to the front of the drawers if you want extra pizazz....See MoreKitchen/island help
Comments (5)what happened to Wall A,B,C...removed? I assumed so and that's why the sink is on the island. So why isn't there room somewhere for this size island...anyway....it looks like a good kitchen for an island so put the sink between frig and range,reduce depth of island,do a rectangle with some overhang so you can have seating. Still can't figure out your whole space but like the idea of one level chunky island with stools as it goes well with the style of your design,thus far....See MoreKitchen Island Help!!
Comments (14)Regarding spacing around an island cooktop...while the bare minimum was posted by FunkyCamper, those measurements are far from useful. We've had a couple of people come here with those measurements looking for any way to get rid of it b/c those spaces are almost impossible to work with. What's reality? At least 24" on each side of the cooktop, preferably at least 36" on one side for a minimum-sized prep zone (42" is even better). The 24" is a safety zone. No seating behind the cooktop - then 18" b/w the back of the cooktop and the edge of the counter (again, safety) Seating behind the cooktop - then at least 24" b/w the back of the cooktop and the edge of the counter (again, safety) Don't forget a good rangehood above the cooktop - at least 6" wider than the cooktop and at least 24" deep (27" is preferred). AND don't mount it any higher than recommended by the manufacturer unless you get an even bigger hood and very powerful fan. (Get an inline fan so it's quieter.)...See Morekitchen Island? help!
Comments (19)I don't know...I get the op asking. For some reason, it really bothers me to be chopping and mixing and stuff, against a wall. I feel a bit claustrophobic doing so. I agree about a narrow island on wheels...You can turn it perpendicular to the sink when you're working with veggies and wash-y things... This one https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80035920/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7-XwhPaG3wIVUoGzCh2obgYpEAQYASABEgJTxvD_BwE Is very narrow but it's the first one I saw... Anyway, I would want one....See MoreShadyWillowFarm
