They're now saying no stitches. So yay! Just time and money out of our lives.

Glad Emergency Rooms are there when we need them, but they are not the best experience time wise. Also glad it wasn't anything more serious. FYI, I put dish soap and water in my blender and turn it on.....make sure the top is on first.....ask me how I know. :-)))) At least it wasn't a trip to the E.R.

I'm happy to hear his recovery will be short and complete.

Happy to see that your Memorial Day was "great" prior to the ER trip. Also happy to see that all is well now and mending will come quickly. I had several such trips with younger daughter. Not fun!

I'm glad that turned out to be OK and hope he heals quickly. As for emergency rooms, ours can try anyone's patience. My brother in law missed much of his own dinner party one year waiting for stitches in his thumb. Not even a kitchen accident getting ready to host dinner, he'd done it in the yard with hedge trimmers earlier in the afternoon. 20 minutes in the opposite direction, there is Urgent Care that runs with total efficiency. In, seen and treated by a doctor or PA, out again.

Glad no stitches, but ouchie. Blender blades are very sharp. I have had many close calls placing them in the dishwasher and removing them from the dishwasher.

besides the hassle, time and $s - I'm glad it wasn't a super serious injury. remember it as time spent with your son and the good of the day prior to the injury. ERs are horrible. our local urgent center is much easier and quicker (or I've only been there at the right times).

that they are! I cut my finger on one the other year and it was painful! I ordered a pair of those protective gloves from Amazon just for future cleaning of blades. They're still unused. as is my ninja blender /processor since that time. I really need to 'brave up' and try it again.

Thank you all! I told him he'd always remember this Memorial Day. Very memorable. It was a jam-packed ER. There was someone there likely a frequent flyer since she had all of her belongings and had a wrist band on before we got there, but was still in the waiting room after we left triage. Probably escaping the brutal heat we're having. There was a family there, and it must've been the matriarch who was ailing, but her ENTIRE family went with her wherever she went. There was a dude there that was despondent he didn't have a bad a%$ story to go with his head wound as he fell over his tyke's safety gate. We heard his physician telling him later he'd look ridiculous if he let him go home with an intracranial bleed, and my boy piped up saying "You know what's worse than having an idiot injury (non-bad a%$)? Dying from an idiot injury". He got it, dunno why the dude wanted to go home except that it took forever to get outta that place. So many people!!!

I hope he got his tetanus shot. Having spent more time than I would like those are the regulars at most ERs. Those family groups are the ones that always made be shake my head at most since in most cases only a couple of people could go into the examination area at a time. They would come in crying/yelling then after a short exam leave smiling and talking. It did not matter what ethic group they belonged to they wanted the whole family there. Yes, my husband's brothers were like that so after the first time we never told them about the ER or any procedures until after the fact.

He got his tetanus shot. His last one was in 2012. We looked it up on his electronic medical record.

Good so many wave them. He is still within what was the suggested ten year range. Last year mine popped up but things had changed and a wound was needed before receiving. Carefully checked my hands and arms finally finding a scab that was about to fall off. I got my shot so I can safely play in the dirt.

My last checkup, the nurse checked, and said I was due for a tetanus shot. I like that efficiency.

I love my Ninja blender and food processor, but the blades are so sharp that they scare me. When cleaning them, I often realize I didn't know I was holding my breath until I'm finished and let out one big exhale!

It never occurred to be to put the blade in the dishwasher. I guess I'd better not! The food processor blade looks real sharp too!

Can't you spin these clean with soap and water -- or alcohol -- inside the container? Why *touch* them?

I keep a small supply of butterfly bandages in the medicine cabinet for just these kind of small emergencies. Has saved me two or three trips to the ER. Kept them in the RV, too. Saved some fellow campers a trip to the ER (remote area) when their young son suffered a cut. Of course, you have to use your judgement & be up to date on tetanus shot. But if it looks like it needs only two or three stitches, the butterflies will do the job.
