Are you quilting this weekend? April 27-29
Comments (18)It sounds as if everyone has an exciting weekend planned! I'm going to brave Joanns tomorrow to return the Simplicity rotary cutter, then I'm going to buy some muslin and batting and border material and spend the rest of the day piecing... looking forward to it... I didn't get a chance yesterday and worked today, so hopefully I'll make some progress tomorrow! I can't believe how much I've missed working on the quilt these last couple days! I've been toying with the idea of getting an embroidery machine, so I've been reading lots of reviews and watching videos... somebody stop me please!...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (29)Linda OH glad your daughter and her baby are ok, my sister once had a bad miscarriage and ran fever for the better part of a week and was quite ill, so thankful ya'll were spared that. Thanks Donna and Sharon. Donna hope you post a pic of your sister's b-day quilt once you get it finished. LindaB/CA new flowerbeds sounds like fun. Jackie that looks like a really fun toy to play with! Maryv I have never had the opportunity to play a Accuquilt Go, but it does sound like fun. With all that bad weather coming our way, Louisiana, Wednesday, we decided to come home today shortening our trip. We had a good trip, but figured it was best to be safe, to avoid the bad weather. Aside from a few maintenance issues we had a really good trip. The kids had a blast and the water balloon fight turned in to a whole family event with all ages getting soaken wet, we were 14 very wet people. I did get a lot of hand-embroidery work done on my Grandma's pillowcases and did get a little reading done in one of the Elm Creek Quilts novel Round Robin. It was a fun trip, but I am exhausted. Got home and spent the better part of a hour unloading the RV and have washed/dried 2 loads of laundry and still have 7 more to go which will no doubt continue into Wednesday assuming we don't lose power from bad weather. Came home and the Easter Lilies and my orange peanut cactus were blooming; haven't been to the back yard flowerbed yet to see what's in bloom there, but will check on that in a little bit. Hope everyone has a good and safe week. Best to you, Sandra...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? May 23-24
Comments (10)I have worked all morning in the quilting room. I pieced a baby quilt for my boss, who has a little girl on the way. I also got it on the frame and partially quilted so far. I added borders to my cousin's Wild Child quilt. She doesn't know how to do that yet, so I did it while she was at work today. My husband had all of his upper teeth pulled yesterday, so I did soft food for lunch and dinner today. He has a gum disease that has finally gone as far as it can go. So dentures it is. I am also working on the 4 patches for a bricks and stepping stones quilt as a leader ender project. I will be going to Dallas on June 1 for work, so I will be getting some handwork together for that. I also have to go to Atlanta the week after that, but I will probably take a machine since I will drive for that one. I can get a lot done in the hotel in the evenings. I also went to 'hell' this morning. That is what I call Walmart. They are the only ones around here that carry the frozen dinners that my husband likes to take to work. I was a little later than usual getting there, so I had to fight the rude people who stood in the middle of the aisles and talked to their long lost friends. I tried to talk this elderly lady on an electric scooter into running over them but she was nicer than me. :) Jackie...See MoreAre you quilting this US Memorial Day weekend? May 26-28
Comments (13)I feel like I have been productive this weekend. Not only in my own sewing room but also a wonderful quilty thing happened. My aunt has gone into assisted living. Prior to that she had gifted me half of her 60+ year old stash. Her son called me this past week and said that she wanted me to have the rest of her stash, scraps, notions etc. I went to get the items, only to realize that she had instructed him to give me a special quilt that was made the year that I was born (55 years ago). The quilt is an autograph quilt that contains autographs of many of the family and a few friends. The autographs were then embroidered. I was floored that she wanted me to have it instead of her son. As I was loading all the stuff into my car, Kenneth said, "I also have all these bags of quilts that need to go somewhere. Mom said that any that I did not keep were to come to you." Needless to say, I came home with 26 quilts. Age ranging from what looks like early 1900s to today. I wish I knew someone to date fabric and quilts. When I get time, I will take photos of them and post. I am just so amazed that she wants me to have these things. I plan to go see her this week and give her a great big hug. She and I have always had a special relationship....See Morepolardream
