Why can't you buy dept. store clothes online?
Comments (5)One reason department stores do not sell everything from their stores online is that they are department stores. The manufacturers pay to rent the space in the stores and have an agreement with the store to handles transactions. This is why clothing lines like Esprit and Ralph Lauren are displayed in their own areas that are decorated differently than the surrounding store areas and not mixed in with all the other clothing. They may have an agreement contract written to partner with advertising together - or not. They may not want online sales to keep their product line "exclusive". Cosmetics are sold like this too in department stores. The manufacturer is responsible for stocking, maintenance and displays. The persons working cosmetic counters in department stores are often employees of the cosmetic manufacturer and not of the store. Ergo, if you wish to order Betsey Johnson clothing online you will have to order from the Betsey Johnson site itself, not the department store....See Morestoring out of season clothes
Comments (8)When we moved I purchased large boxes designed for hanging clothing on hangers in for storage/moving (we had to put our household effects in storage for several weeks before we could complete our move). We then used those sturdy boxes for off-season clothing until we built a closet for them in the basement. Things that needed flolding could be put on the bottom of the box and everything else hung on hangers. It's nice having things on hangers rather than folded in boxes and tubs. You can also use Rolling Clothes Racks - some even come with covers to keep dust off the clothing. You can also make storage if your space is limited. Take sturdy round metal or plastic trash containers and store the off-season clothing in them. Put a round piece of wood on the top, drape a round tablecloth on the top to conceal the entire container, and perhaps a round piece of tempered glass or plexiglass on top of the cloth (keeps the table cloth clean). Now you have a bedside stand or a side table as well as storage. -Grainlady Here is a link that might be useful: Rolling Clothes Rack...See MoreBedroom Blues . . .
Comments (23)I love that white wardrobe! I do envision it being all white and blue and red nautical, and am tempted to paint a lot of the non-descript furniture in there white . . . however . . . SO is out east packing up to move in with me, and he schooled me on a couple of things about our bedroom. He WILL have his TV and stereo in the room, and if we ever get the other bedroom in the house, the master suite, back from being our storage room, and livable, this current room WILL become his man cave. And he reiterated, no IVAR! But I do have another modular set from IKEA, (I can't remember the name, but it is discontinued) with metal frames and laminate cupboards, drawers and shelves. He likes that one, and since it was my plan to put it in there when the room converted to "man cave" anyway, I might as well put it in there to start. It has a space tailor made for his stereo speakers and we had it set up in our last house with the stereo on it. Picture this wider, with one more shelf set in the middle, and the speakers in the narrow cabinets, sans the doors. Small TV where the mirror is. I'm kind of going with a bold "northwoods" theme in there now, starting with removing the floral border, and painting the walls, either a very neutral creamy off-white or clear grey. I realized I can remove the folding closet doors and replace them with drapes. That will give me more wall space on the bed wall, quite a bit, and a way to tone down the orange wood vibe in the room. Not my ideal, but better and workable. Stay tuned for an update after I get it set up. I have a friend coming to help me implement it this weekend....See MoreDividers for clothes rods like stores use
Comments (4)I did end up finding some similar to my second example. I found a listing on amazon that specified both outer diameter and inside opening; so from that I could tell they would fit. They arrived today. And the slit to get them on is quite narrow, so they won't fall off. I'm glad I don't have to make them!...See Morewildchild2x2
