Store Your Clothes in Style: Great Dressers
It's a fact of life: We've all got clothes, and we all need someplace to keep them. In too many bedrooms, the dresser is an afterthought - a piece that came with the bed, an inexpensive piece that was supposed to be temporary, but somehow stayed for years, or a less-than-attractive hand-me-down.
But why should that be? While beds dominate, dressers are also a major design force in the bedroom. The best ones combine form and function and fit neatly with the rest of the space.

Here are some of my favorite dressers:
I love this room for a lot of reasons - the taxidermy and sky high loft-like bookshelf not least of all. But for practical concerns, the dresser is the key to the space. It's simple and roomy with great, mid-century lines and a rich color that really works with the creamy bedspread and cool blue walls. It's simplicity lets the walls and deer and bed dominate the room aesthetically, but just because it takes a backseat doesn't mean it's boring.
I like the double-duty done by this wide, low-mounted dresser. It's a TV stand, bookshelves and great clothes storage. Plus, it's unobtrusive but clean and pretty.
I love old Hollywood glamour and this dresser, with its mirrored exterior and Art Deco lines, is a great example of the style. It works so perfectly in this white-on-white bedroom, too. Ladylike and feminine, but not over-the-top.
When minimalism is important - like in this room, where the walls of windows dominate the design - there's not much better than hidden storage. These under-bed drawers are so practical and a perfect clothes-storage solution.
I can't imagine a more fun room for a young girl. It's bright and crazy and full of energy. I also like that the dresser is not outrageous. It's a great color - the blue is a cool complement to the hot pinks - but willing to stand back and let the rest of the room take center stage. Even in a wild room like this one, not every piece can be equally dramatic.
