It's indeed a foursquare, with vaguely colonial styling. You don't usually see them with gambrel roofs though.

I'm not an expert on house styles but I think it's a nice looking house. If it were mine, I would definitely replace those garage doors (or at least repaint them) and remove the awnings. Other than that, it looks like the gutters/trim need a good cleaning and/or a fresh coat of paint. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the white windows look old and don't match the new bronze ones on the third floor. If the white ones need replacing, I would go all bronze. I would definitely not paint the brick.

Looks like the front stairwell needs work. I think it should be reconfigured and the white railings replaced with black aluminum. Landscape needs work as well. Old homes need upkeep and this home is really very, very nice on a nice plot of land.

A four square in need of some help. Those garage doors need replacing for sure I would remove the awnings and just use solar shades on those windows . It would be nice to have all the windows the same so proably cheapest would be to change the top ones to white even though I love the black. Please do not paint the brick. I think this could be quite a lovely house with some TLC and of course some $$$$ I love that it sits up on the property it allows for some awesome landscaping

I would advise a home inspection before the final sale. Older homes are charming, but there is a lot of upkeep and best to know what you will need to address once you are the owner. Best of luck!

Also, powerwash the steps and patio first thing. Then get that garage taken care of. I thought those were communal mailboxes at first!

Make sure they inspect that roof and the gutters. Looks like there's been some patchwork and roofs are expensive (and necessary).

Because on the side gables and the shape of the roof, with dormers on the third story. I think the house is a “Dormered Gambrel” .

As for improving the curb appeal: is that your garage? I’d start there right at the curb and work your way up. Paint the doors all white and the overhang.

Paint the cememt stairs and paint the front door white, as well.
