non-blooming AV
Comments (10)sunflowerlover, it depends on the plant and how severely you mangled the roots. I'd give it a month or so. KWien, someone suggested a technique that appears to have worked for me. I had a mini rescue that had never bloomed in all the months I've had it. I read on the forum that taking the pot and knocking it sharply on a flat surface can get a slow bloomer to put out. Well, dang if it didn't work. I guess it's the shock or jiggling the roots or something. Of course the little guy is taking *forever* to open up, but it's getting closer... Comments (15)So many beautiful plants everyone! I'm really enjoying this thread & hope you are too. Socks, your variegated Scheflera is so pretty! Whenever I see them, I think of Puerto Rico, the hotel had hundreds of them throughout the paths. Crenda, I love your white edged bromeliad, I don't recall seeing that type before. All wonderful plants and I love your pool & bar set up! SLD, Holy mackerel, AV 'Happy Herald' is freakin' amazing! LOVE IT!!! I have hoya bella too, yours looks so much better, I need to repot mine soon. This is a yellow variegated Iris, (maybe 'Aureo Variegata') I planted it last summer and am happy that it made it through winter. This is my first time seeing it bloom. :) A variegated sedum (aka stonecrop). Also planted this last year. I noticed today that this a non-variegated section, perhaps someday I'll move that part. The top left little thing is variegated Bishops weed, (not a weed to me) it's been fried in the past years droughts and I am happy it is a survivor. The bottom plant, the variegated Ajuga, I bought recently at Walmart for under $2, and am pleasantly surprised at the pretty bloom. -Nancy...See MoreSpring Fling 2019! (Take 2, re-dux or?)
Comments (110)Parking will be on asphalt and the pavilion is on concrete. It isn’t really that wet anyway, but I’m sure if one ventured closer to the lake you could find mud? The pavilion is large enough we shouldn‘t need additional shade. There are tables, electric and water. There are a couple of grills at one end if anyone wants to do s’mores. I’m bringing a bag of charcoal, lighter fluid and a lighter. I’ll also throw in a few pieces of oak and pecan if we want a little more than coals. A fire sounds a little less needed than two weeks ago, but? Jen, there is a slight chance of rain early that morning, but it’s like 20%? Signs probably aren’t necessary. It‘s basically a matter of going north at the big sign that has Clear Bay on it to the first crossroads, turn right and follow that road all the way to the end. Or, I think the roads are marked. Take Clear Bay Ave to Little River State Park turn right and go to the end of it....See MoreSeptember 2019 Blooms
Comments (47)Wendy, your Pseudolithos and Hoodia are out of this world!!! I'm expecting both as well this week (bought on Ebay), and I'm hoping they will flower for me next year like yours do now, stunning!!! It's been quite a colourful month for me, even though I brought the plants that spent summer outside back into the greenhouse a few weeks back....See MoreRosie1949
