That was a surprise
Comments (10)It probably isn't getting a lot of sun. it hasn't been fed for a long time, so I started with that. The deer have ignored it, but with a few buds, they will come .I will spray it with deer repellant, but it will be raining for the next few days. There Is a buff beauty that cranked out one beautiful flower that is healthy but not growing much. I fertilized everything on the slope this morning. Catch 22, if they start growing better and they will become deer snacks. My wife loves buff beauty. I may get another plant for my sunny garden and cage it. I need to check on the repeat before assigning it to the limited space....See MoreBlooms today
Comments (17)You are lucky Ann. Iris are lovely, and I am trying to mulching between plants to cut down the rediculous amount of weeding in the beds. High praise from you, Rena, thanks. That main JM is about 10 years old now. I am very fortunate that I discovered the voles were attacking it before they killed the entire tree. Julia, I love the clematis too, and have several more with buds but no blooms yet...they do brighten up the garden. the weather has been so odd, my creeping phlox has been blooming since January! Not so much as now, but blooming away. This bed has been my bright spot all winter: I do sit in my bench, drinking lemonade and watching the birds, but most of my time is still working in the garden. Nancy, thank you but you have got to be kidding! My entire garden is constructed in the "where can I put this?" mode. I do tend to like certain colors, so that's okay. Of course I have a six pack of bright orange celosia sitting in the greenhouse until I decide where I am sticking them...they are bright, but I do love brights. I was thinking your iris usually bloom when mine do. Looking forward to seeing them...I would love to visit and walk over your gardens with you, but other than plant to the bursting at the rims point, not a designer. kay Nan...See MoreBlooms Picking Up Every Day: Sunday
Comments (13)Great photos Kay. Loving the show. I also have Till The End Of Time here. Yours looks exactly how mine blooms here. I think if this is grown in a very hot climate, the color would fade more and be more like the hybridizers photo. Just my opinion. mantis: if you want to try some in your garden, I can send you some in the fall to try. Email me if interested. I have to divide and move this one as it is growing right up against my bee balm. Julia This post was edited by juliany on Sun, Jun 2, 13 at 19:05...See MoreMore blooms opening
Comments (12)I so love our patio area with the clematis on the trellis and all the perennials mixed in the beds on that side however, I really need to pay attention to clematis heights as Rebecca is not a good match for Avant Garde (AG grows much taller) and you can see a noticeable gap on the trellis to the right. My husband thinks we should add an outdoor sign or decor item. I agree or maybe I'll just look for another red clematis to add in. Anyway, I forgot to add in the daylilies which opened today. RIBBIT RIBBIT - reliable, tall and fast increaser. FREEDOM'S TRIUMPH - much improved from prior year. It always had many scapes and buds but poor openings in the beginning. Second pic is JEALOUS JAKE looking more like it should on its second opening. BLACK FATHOM DEPTHS - has been struggling to open fully. Although a beautiful flower it may be just too small a flower for my taste. SOUL ON FIRE - plenty of scapes and buds DESERT SHORE - I was unsure about this one last year as it appeared to be languishing but this year, it is getting better. Tall, increased and more scapes than prevously. Waiting to see how the other buds open as to color. This is a seedling of Lavender Blue Baby X Rose F, Kenndy. Another seedling making an appearance is Polston Pink Seedling x Kaleidoscopic Intrigue Now that I've added those in, time to take a break and relax and get a cup of tea and some chocolate....See Moreorganic_kitten
