Need help with hood for 48' rangetop-either Capital Culinarian or
Comments (2)For the Culinarian, Capital recommends a 1200CFM vent hood and they sell a nice one that matches the range. I would assume that the Wolf will be close to that and they may have a matching hood also. If you are on an external wall, that you don't mind having an outside vent on, you probably want to exit right out the back of the hood (or top with a single 90 degree bend). An internal blower would probably be fine, but external options are available. Many recommend having a hood wider than the range to increase the capture area. The depths seem to be either 24 or 27 inches, but you can get custom sizes also as well as totally custom hoods or inserts to put in something you build. A lot depends on how your kitchen is setup and how you expect to cook (e.g. grilling and wok'ing can produce a lot of smoke). There seems to be an infinite variety of hoods available. The factors seem to be size, price, style, power (CFMs) and noise. The noise factor seems to be hard to accurately gage since it depends on the installation and their don't seem to be any standards that are consistently followed by the various vendors. Home Depot / Lowes or your local appliance store will have models available and searching the forums and surfing the internet will give you plenty of things to look at. There is also the whole make up air (MUA) issue to look at depending on your local building codes and climate as well as personal preference. Search the forums for more info. We are getting a 48" Culinarian with grill and have just ordered a 48" PS1530 Modern Aire hood in red and stainless. Should be nice. The folks at Modern Aire have been nice to deal with, but I'm sure other vendors are good also....See Moreadvice on 36' gas rangetop
Comments (11)Most people who've had problems with Thermadors have had problems with the wall ovens or the oven portion of the Thermador ranges, not the burners or rangetops. The star-shape of the Thermador burners gives better flame coverage than the outer-ring style seen on most burners (which mainly heats the outer circumference of a pan rather than across the pan). And the Thermador rangetop sure is good-looking. I don't know why TonySak said above that the simmer setting may not be as reliable or as safe (??) - can you provide backup for that comment? I haven't heard that at all. I think if the Thermador burners weren't "safe" it would be a big deal and we would have heard about it, there'd be recalls, etc. What I have heard is that many people don't like the low simmer setting on the Thermador burners cause they click on and off which is an annoying sound. Other people say they don't mind the clicking, or rarely simmer on such a low setting, or they can't hear the simmer clicking over the other noises in the kitchen like the exhaust fan, the kids, or the general hubbub in a kitchen. The clicking isn't cause it's broken or anything, that's just how the Thermador low simmer has always worked. Can you go see one in operation to see if it would annoy you?...See MoreBluestar Platinum Rangetop w interchangeable griddle/charbroiler
Comments (7)I did. I put the griddle on the right instead of the middle so I can stage stuff on the counter next to it. I also changed the arrangement of the burners however if I had known better at the time I would have just moved them myself after I got it. I think I would have still had to pay for moving the griddle though so it didn't really matter. When I did it (2 years ago) it cost $300 to have a custom configuration. This isn't for the platinum, a regular RNB but I would assume it's the same....See MoreRangetop advice (Zline vs other brands)
Comments (2)Hello I am just wondering if you did get Zline range top? That’s my take away as well after some reading that Zline’a oven is bad and also thinking about just the range top...See MoreNancy Akins
