Be very careful what Kordes roses you buy Straw! I was on a Kordes website and they have a rating system on that site... Up to 4 star can be given for BS resistance... BUT some of there roses they only gave them 2-3 stars for BS resistance... Rose of Hope was rated a 3 so not sure if I will try it or not? Plum Perfect is rated a 4 but from doing research winter hardiness is in serious question and it seems to do best in hotter locations... We do not know name of my wifes flower... Agreed. As to the scoring, it really isn't anything new, it is just a lamer system since the combined health scores are used. While I would not be surprised if this were a copy writer's error (excellent, exceptional... Whatever...) it appears the 8 stars (combined scores for BS and mildew) earns the "exceptional" rating. There are a number of roses on the Kordes.us site that do not have *any* "rating" included, one or two of which might theoretically earn the "exceptional" assuming that references an 8-star BS + mildew rating. I definitely miss the NewFlora system, adapted from Kordes in Germany. I also note that some of NewFlora's offerings don't appear to be on the new Kordes.us site, so they may be reducing the number of offerings. That would be very unfortunate as the Kordes line brought a lot of very healthy roses into our market. Does anyone know if Chris, formerly of Newflora, is still involved with the evaluations and distribution of Kordes.us? Does she still frequent this forum?

Thank you everyone. I was turned onto roses unlimited this week and reached out them. They do have the 1983 orange brillant just spelled wrong on the listing! I am very excited about this. I have talked to pelantine and they do not sell it any more just the new miniature red "brilliant veranda" as most of the nurseries listing"brilliant" do. As far as Dolly Parton I have one and its in my top 3 favorite breeds. Nearly endless flowers that are huge and smell divine. The color is more of a searing coral with orange undertones compared to Brilliants straight up neon orange, at least how it grows here in MD. @roseseek I have had average success with propagating form cuttings.

Oh, my word, Diane! What a beauty. The reason I have not ordered Ascot is because I don't know what to expect size wise. I know it wouldn't come near the size of yours, but would it be the stated 4-5' or smaller? If I can determine where to put it, I will order it. The bloom shape and color are perfect. Red without being blazing, hot, fire engine red. The deep reds, like Munstead, blend beautifully with pinks. I wish we could all have attended Jemma's recital. Standing in front of an audience and singing is just unimaginable to me. I'm sure it helps if you're talented, but still. I am in awe of anyone who can carry a tune and she does so much more than that. Those two granddaughters of yours are truly gifted. When she gives a concert in Spokane. I will be front row, center. Re: rose growing ground. I meant you would have to give up some roses to have chickens. Replacing your roses with a chicken coop just isn't the same look.
