I know I sound weird complaining about roses that do well, but here goes. I got excited about First Crush as I like white roses. So because it was stated as being around 32 inches, I gave it to 3 feet in my garden. I planted it on the edge and this is what t grew to. It is 6 feet and still growing up the drain pipe.. I planted another First Crush, again because it was short, at the base of the 8 foot garden shed. Here is that one it is ??? must be 7 feet or over because of the roof line Some "little ones" like Pink Martini, classified as a Patio Rose 28 ", grew way past that and then bent right over the steps, creating a death trap. It looks like it's vomiting. Here is a two year old Cream Veranda which is 4 feet and growing. Poor photo of mature Solero Vigorosa 4 feet would be taller if it didn't flop Solero Vigorosa showing bendy canes A photo of Dark Desire in the back, which must be at least 7 feet tall. As I am not 8 feet tall, it makes it impossible to dead head the flowers

Agreed. As to the scoring, it really isn't anything new, it is just a lamer system since the combined health scores are used. While I would not be surprised if this were a copy writer's error (excellent, exceptional... Whatever...) it appears the 8 stars (combined scores for BS and mildew) earns the "exceptional" rating. There are a number of roses on the Kordes.us site that do not have *any* "rating" included, one or two of which might theoretically earn the "exceptional" assuming that references an 8-star BS + mildew rating. I definitely miss the NewFlora system, adapted from Kordes in Germany. I also note that some of NewFlora's offerings don't appear to be on the new Kordes.us site, so they may be reducing the number of offerings. That would be very unfortunate as the Kordes line brought a lot of very healthy roses into our market. Does anyone know if Chris, formerly of Newflora, is still involved with the evaluations and distribution of Kordes.us? Does she still frequent this forum?

Diane, Now I am trying to figure out what was it about Augusta that I decided not to get it, after all. Maybe it was not available? :) I still have Dee-lish in the small pot it came with from Wallmart. I tortured it like this the entire summer; it survived, but obviously couldn't do much in those crammed conditions. I was thinking to dig up Dick Clark and place Dee-lish in its place, to let it show what it can do. But what if I were to do this with Augusta Luise instead? Or maybe put Augusta in a container? The picture here makes it sound like it would do well in a container too: https://www.rosen-stange.de/images/product_images/original_images/augusta-luise-k-bel.jpg Then again, we all know what pictures on the Internet say it's possible and what actually IS possible. How some people get so much bloom from one plant is still beyond me! I really need to get rid of one to get in another one, I can't keep adding. Yet I somehow can't make myself get rid of Dick Clark, as much as I hate the color. It seems like a lot of trouble to dig it up, plus it grows large and sturdy, blooms pretty well, and blooms have a relatively long vase life. But IT IS my one garish rose.
