Question about growing David Austin Roses at Austin TX
Comments (7)By all means, do plant them in your garden now. Make sure you water them in well. Since it is so warm there, I'd provide them with some afternoon shade for about a week. Place a lawn chair over them or buy some shade cloth and rig up some stakes to attach it to. Since it is so warm, keep an eye on the roses so they don't dry out during the next week or two--but don't drown them either. That can kill them as easily as too little water can. You have some beauties there. Good luck! Kate...See MoreDavid Austin's Bathsheba Coloring
Comments (56)Thank you Nick, Dave, Helen, and Sultry for your comments regarding my David Austin order. I guess I am not sure what I will do since I am so non-confrontational. I always end up just letting things go (bad personality trait). I will admit I was disappointed they weren't willing to do anything, specially because in the last 2 years I have ordered 98 roses from them and feel like I am a loyal customer. I was only hoping to combine them to use the money for more roses, which was going to end up in their pockets anyway =) lol. Anyway I might just keep the orders I have and shop more wisely next year. I hope you are all having a wonderful January and remember Spring is coming! Sorry Erasmus for some reason I couldn't see your post until after my post submitted so I am editing. The lady said I could call and add to my order, but my orders where place online so they wont do it. Helen I am so glad you are going to grow RTC in your garden. I can't wait to see the spectacular pictures you will be no doubt posting of that rose very soon....See MoreHelp on choosing climbing roses
Comments (53)Thanks a lot for all the wonderful suggestion. We used to have a line of cypress along the fence giving us a lot of privacy. I got rid of the trees for the roses, but I really hope the climbing roses could provide both beauty and privacy. I think I could sacrifice a little thorn for beauty, as long as they are not like those epic thorn on New Dawn. So here are my latest climbing roses selection. Yellow - Crepuscule, Teasing Georgia, Reve d'Or Dark Pink - Peggy Martin, Pretty in Pink Eden, Raspberry Cream Twirl Since other flowers were planted only 5 feet away from the fence, there is not much space left for shrub roses between the fence and other flowers. The only way is up the fence. However, I did find enough space in front of the Tea Olive for a shrub roses and I like the suggestion of Belinda's Dream....See MoreLarge, Disease-Free Climber with Good Repeat for Nashville
Comments (12)Diane it is great to be able to post here some again even if my iphone has decided it hates the forum and barely lets me type (Ipad does it also so i dont know whats going on). How are you doing? I hope you are doing great and I cant wait to see pictures of your garden this spring. Hmmmm I think both roses are very beautiful, but I prefer Bathsheba. I am probably biased because I love the Austins and it is so dificult to find any that has good foliage here. CL looks like AL here and I wonder what her colors will look like in your garden. If she is place near Al they will probably would look stuning. Either rose would look fabulous I cant wait to see what you end up choosing for your Bonica spot. We are doing well around here, I feel like I may get to do some gardening this spring (trying to pot some of my roses to relocate them). I have ordered a total of three roses that I am planing on putting in pots for now. I have struggled with lots of hip/pelvic ligament pains and laxity since having the baby but I feel like I am recovering. I have always loved your Colette and golden celebration. I think golden celebration would not fare well here with blackspot but I am planning on having a Colette at my future new garden to see how it does 😁....See MoreRelated Professionals
