Gray paint in bedroom
Comments (7)I used Revere Pewter HC-172 by Benjamin Moore on a bedroom and love it. Very interesting paint as it will almost change color depending on what is in the room. Initially light color furniture and now darker furniture and it looks different, which is a good thing. Really like it and would not hesitate to paint other rooms in this color....See MoreRepose Gray is a lot darker than what I was expecting...help!
Comments (29)I’m a little late to this board, but we used Repose in our old house that we sold. We used It as a whole house color inside and it turned out very pretty. It does reflect a little different in each room bc of windows and lighting. That house was 1600 sq ft, the dining room was very small and it looked great in there, made the room look much larger. All of that said, we just finished painting our current dining room in Repose today. We covered red walls. The first coat I noticed a lot of green undertones, and the color looked much darker. We have the second coat on and it’s pretty, but I’m not feeling like it looks as grey as it did at the other house. Depending on where you stand in the room, it looks grey, greige, or more tannish looking, I don’t know if the mix was off a little or if it’s just the lighting of the room. It is north facing, which is apparently not the best place to put Repose. I’m going to see how it looks in a couple of days and may try another grey....See Morecoordinating colors with sw repose gray?
Comments (0)I started painting in my house to add life to the builder white we have everywhere. I picked repose gray for the main areas - hallways and the open first floor and green in my sons room at his request. I want the bedrooms etc to look like they are coordinated and well planned, light and airy. I have no idea how to go about this. My doors are white, finishes oil rubbed bronze, cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen are cream. My floors are white oak, cream tiles and off white carpet. Decor style is more Johanna Gaines but currently very builder grade and I love gray....See MoreSW Repose Gray or Gray Screen
Comments (11)What you're asking is difficult to impossible to answer. Paint color on the walls should be the last item that you choose, after all the permanent fixtures are in. I know builders want to paint first, but that makes it frustrating to homeowners. Color changes with the light, and is influenced by everything else in the room. When we built our home, we had everything painted white. If we wanted to paint the walls a different color at a later date, we did that ourselves and had time to consider what the best color would be. But if you're really focused on getting the best gray color, you need to get very large samples, or paint posterboard yourself with the actual color, and then see how it looks in your room with your lighting. Gray Screen is in the blue/green color family, so it makes sense that it tends to look cooler than Repose Gray which is in the yellow color family. Both colors are very neutral, which means that they can morph and change greatly with changes in the light. There's no substitute for making this decision in situ....See MoreCelery.
