I find too many different tiles in a small space never work. I agree that the white did not work. I like 12 x24 tile the same on the floors and shower walls to keep things simple. and when the tile work is all done then is the time to choose wall color . Choose a cream from the tile and bring home samples because lighting in paint stores is not a good place to choose the right one.The color you painted above the sink does not work and If you want that accent tilein the last pic somewhere remove the little 3 “ piece and use that accent tile for a backsplash.

Please don't put that heavy stone-look tile on your walls. Dated, dated, dated. Also, your counter with its fleshy pink undertones clashes with the gold undertones of the floor and wall tile. Pink and gold are the worst color combination! You need a soft beige color palette and less pattern, especially for the walls.

If you want to use a large format tile, use something that doesn't scream "stone" like Imola Koshi in Almond or Beige as your floor and field tile. It's considered a cement-look tile and does not read too contemporary like some cement tiles. Your oak vanity will provide enough pattern and contrast to a quieter tile and countertop.

Another tile to look at is Daltile Cove Creek in Off White. You can see photos of it installed in their Sales Sheet PDF.

Toby, i appreciate your ideas and i definitely am going to continue to tile shop. i am stuck with the vanity and counter top. I want a tile that will be classic and not something i will tire of quickly. I didn't post a picture of the shower but it is fiberglass shower. i am getting new semi frame less oil rub bronze clear glass shower doors and want the tile to be above the shower and down the wall that is between the shower and vanity. i will post some more pictures to give you an idea of where the tile will be.

I like the Cove Creek in beige posted by Toby. It has a nice a color and some movement, but mild enough. The one you picked looks very heavy and dated..sorry, don't mean to upset anyone..I've seen that kind of tile in many older bathrooms that needed remodel. Your counter is a nice cream and I think that beige tile will look beautiful there

Cove Creek in Beige might be too close to the counter. I've had that sample home in the Off White. Cove Creek comes in a porcelain floor tile and a ceramic wall tile. Get samples of both as there could be some color variation.

I would not mix tile with the fiberglass shower.

What is your reason for tiling? Is the tub tile damaged?

Toby, yes, i had new plumbing fixtures installed and to get to the faucet on the tub they had to cut hole in front of the tub surround. plus , the tile was not installed correctly and a raw tile edge was on the tub. I also did not like the color or size of the tile on the floor so I decided to have it all re-tiled. I have some issues with the wall above the shower getting condensation on them when we take steamy shower so I thought tile would be a good idea and I have seen some pictures of tile above fiberglass showers that looked nice.

When I have the new tub surround tiled this time I will have them install an access door to get to the tub faucet if needed in future.

If the vanity is staying, how about Calacatta Gold marble 12 x 24's with mosaics? It's classic and the brownish/goldish veining will work with the wood you already have in place.

If the marble is too expensive, you can find really great looking porcelain tile that mimics the Calacatta Gold look.

Sabrina Alfin Interiors, The Calcutta Gold is beautiful but out of my $$ range. I will try to find some porcelain that is similar in color.

calidesign, thank you for the subway tile idea. I will consider that too. Did you mean subway tile just around the tub and top of shower? what would you suggest for the floor? i think blocking off the old green color is a great idea when I get to the point to test more samples. I'm thinking about maybe a piece of poster board might work.

The floor tile you initially chose would be fine. You could also look at a driftwood look tile, or any lighter tile with minimal contrast. It partially depends on what flooring you have outside this room. If carpet, you can do anything on the floor. If hardwood, then chose a tile that has a stone look.

I don't think it's Frost. We tiled our shower a year ago in Frost with our gray Koshi and we had problems with the color not being uniform. It had to all be removed. I wouldn't use Mapei.

I would pick a grout that your tiler is familiar with. I don't remember the undertone of the off white Cove Creek.

I never realized how difficult it would be to get something to work with this off white tile.

White or light gray.

Narrowed it down to Tec sterling or MP warm gray.

But whatever is in that picture does seem to work with this tile.

Be careful that there's no blue undertones in the gray grout you choose. I thought we needed a blue undertone but what we chose turned out too blue. Tec Sterling sounds familiar as one we may have been considering when we thought we needed a blue tone.

Is MP Mapei? I wouldn't use their product. I heard that tilers don't like it. I know that after my tiler got their rep involved in my issue, they pulled several colors off the shelf because of quality issues.

Looks like there isn't much that goes with this product.

I just remembered something about the Cove Creek. One is for floors, porcelain I believe, and one is for walls, probably ceramic. I ordered samples of both and there was a difference in the pattern. Be sure the sample you're looking at is the material you want. I believe the ceramic doesn't come in the 12 x 24. This info is on their website.

You can always do a soft white grout.
