Interior Door Handles...Where To Buy?
Comments (13)I second lockhouse.com. They used to be called Kwiklocks. I purchased my whole houseful of door knobs and cabinet knobs and pulls. They have great service terms and if you don't live in TX you don't pay tax. If your order is over a certain amount (I think it used to be 300.00) you don't pay shipping either. I used Emtek knobs. One of my knobs was defective and I ordered wrong on a couple. Returning wasn't a problem and they promptly sent out my new ones so I didn't keep my GC waiting. My GC was very skeptical about all of my online purchasing. I saved so much time and money doing it that way. I tried to order way ahead of time to be sure I had everything when the time came to install. Most items I ordered were not that big so it was easy to stack them somewhere in the house we were living in. comfortdog...See MoreInterior door handle suggestions?
Comments (23)When I used the word "contemporary", I meant up-to-date and timely, rather than dated. I didn't mean "modern". I think the square rosette is quite trendy (in a good way) right now, and works well with a variety of styles. For instance, we have similar handles in our 150 year old federal rowhouse. That style does not work well in a modern setting. But you said your house was pretty plain vanilla, so adding a square rosette would be a good way to add some interest and bring the house up to date. That's what I meant when I said "contemporary"....See MoreI need ideas for an interior door for AC closet
Comments (19)For those wondering why a louvered door might be needed in the first place … I don’t know what is going on in the OP’s situation, but, we have an air handler that does require a louvered door. Our air handler for our basement heat pump is in a closet. No return ducting (and none is possible). The closet door serves as the return. As such, it needs to be louvered. In our previous home, we had one heat pump. The air handler was in a closet at the end of the main hallway. No return duct therefore, the door, again, had to be louvered. In this case, it might have been possible to install a return grate above the closet door. It might not have been possible because the air handler might have required a larger return opening than could be accomodated above the door....See MoreWhat interior door styles would you recommend for contemporary home?
Comments (8)There were a lot of houses built in the middle of the last century in the US with cheap, hollow core flat panel doors. When people refer to cheap flat panel doors that's what they're thinking of. As the previous posters have shown, there are more expensive, very attractive flat panel doors available. Maybe not at big box stores, but if you live in a major metro area you should be able to find them somewhere locally. The price of lumber has been all over the place the last two years, and while it's not at its peak, it's still high as compared to pre-pandemic, so be prepared for sticker shock....See Moretartanmeup
