Sofa Dilemma
Comments (5)Well you're in luck... Crate and Barrel's just about to begin their annual upholstery sale, 20 percent off. It begins Sept 15(quiet start date of the 10th, I've been told)One can order custom pieces of Lee Industries' furniture through any Crate and Barrel furniture store. I'm preparing my order presently. Ditto the previous post regarding sun fade, different dye lots. You will never be able to "match" your new love seat, if that is your intention. But you can have a piece that harmonizes beautifully with what you all ready own. I' m gathering that your pieces are solid ( you mentioned stock ) fabric. Visit Lee Industries furniture website and browse their wonderful fabric selection. Choose several "prints" stripes, tone on tone florals or geometric patterns that look to have the color of your current fabric in the weave. Zoom in and remember colors differ on monitors. Your goal should be to compliment your current pieces. The fabrics you choose should be blends. Hundred percent cotton or linnen won't do. They just won't hold up, especially with children. Congratulations on your little one ! Contact Crate and Barrel and ask for (many) swatches to be sent to you. Be so kind to provide style numbers. There are many to choose from. I'm expecting my request of 17 swatches to arrive this week. Once they arrive place them right on top of your cushions. Look at them in different lighting situations. Narrow it down to three swatches and then... Let your husband decide which fabric will cover your new love seat. By the way upholstery or reupholstery is not cheap. I was quoted over 1k for a 87" sofa. I live in a very rural NY location and don't have a C and B store with in a day's drive. I feel completely comfortable working over the phone, fax, interenet with an associate in a PA store. Have fun....See MoreDo Your LR Drapes Match Sofa Color?
Comments (15)Beekeeperswife, I've seen that "match the wall" look. Hmmm. I'll think about that. See if I can get some tan swatches. jeannine, There is no brown. The chairs are dark red and dark green, and the sofa is green/red/navy. The carpet is gold with red flowers. The photo IS dark. There are windows on 3 sides though, 6 of them, so it's light all day. Checked out gold drapes originally, but the swatches that came were all so shiny. Too Dorothy Lamour! nettie, the colored valance is certainly a look that appeals to me, are they still popular? I know....the room's full of Victorian antiques....but it's not as though one gets rid of them after 30 years. Back in one of my previous homes I would have done the Morris wallpaper and burgandy velvet drapes. That's too much for this house. :) Is the link below what you mean? With maybe tan silk panels? Here is a link that might be useful: Vintage Valance...See MoreSofa matching chair?? Need help
Comments (7)Sueb20, I'd love to see a picture of your room. I have been longing for a wild lime/acid yellow leather chair. My plan was to put it on a traditional style-- but I never found the right chair/leather color in the same line. I am relieved to see the responses to this thread as I am struggling with the same right now. I purchased two chairs on clearance (but neither was inexpensive--part of the problem here) and a custom leather sofa. I don't know what I was thinking at the time-- well, I do know. I had zero spare time but I had put off furniture shopping for soooo long. I let the store designer talk me into purchasing two chairs from the floor and then I ordered the sofa in the color I had been searching for-- an earthy/organic green-brown. Long story short--the chair and the sofa are two very different colors of brown. It looks like I tried to match them and didn't.. or worse, it looks like I shopped the clearance floor. Not the look I was shooting for. Some tell me they work well together-- others tell me they don't. The furniture store is willing to exchange both chairs (the scale of the other chair is just completely wrong--that one will be returned regardless). The problem is the leather chair has been discontinued so I can't get the same chair in the same leather as the sofa. I love the comfort of the chair but am struggling to make it work. I think maybe an upholstered chair would help take the focus away from the two that don't match. In the meantime, I am looking for another chair from the same manufacturer that is just as comfortable... or an additional chair that works with all. Anyhow.. your posts give me faith that I can make them all work together....See Morewhich loveseat should I match my black velvet sofa ?
Comments (2)You need 2 chairs instead of a loveseat. BTW both the colored pieces you show are sofas and when they become lovesets the proportion is not as attractive. @ chairs in a bright color would be nice I assume the top photo is your sofa which BTW looks like a loveseat I might be a bit confused.I think something a bit fun would be good or if you want to keep it more on the formal side .I would like to see the whole room myself....See MoreJAN MOYER
