I like Nastarana's idea of the walk. Makes it obvious what side is theirs and just what they need to maintain up too. I am redoing an area and have a similar issue, I am going to leave that 12" and then level my side with a low stack block wall. I have a section that is wider than the 12" behind one of our fenced gardens. I can maintain my side no problem and have gates. I do have a question for those in the know, if your neighbor has left themselves NO access other than trespassing across all of your property to maintain their fence, do you have to allow or should they purchase their own ladder? The bad neighbors will have their fence fall any old time, surprised it is still standing to be honest, and we have our own chainlink fence on our side. But the over watering towntown group has left themselves no way to access except thru our side I have lots of things planted on our side of the line, most by 2 or more feet so there is work room, just no way to reach it. That fence will probably be the first to fall because of the winds even though it is in better shape. (but only by a little bit) And is there anything that can be done if they leave the old concrete around where their fence was before? They built one guessing on the wrong line and rebuilt a new one more on their side but I have trip hazards all over on our side of the fence but I think mostly on their side of the property line.

No, the sprout is probably a root stock sucker. Most tree roses are made from three different rose varieties, The root is different from the standard or tree portion which is grafted onto the root and the bloomimg portion is grafted onto the top of the standard. So, unless the sprout is growing from the very top, it'll be either the standard or the root stock, neither of which you'd want.

No, conie it is NOT true that all 7 leafed roses are suckers! Suckers normally come from below the ground, it is interesting that you have growth above the bud union on your tree roses - normally, I would say those were not suckers, but I am not an expert. Perhaps if you give more info someone here will be able to help you: 1) Do you know the name of the tree rose you bought? 2) What color are the flowers normally? 3) You say that the canes with the 7 leaflets have "lots of bloom". What color are those flowers? Are they the same or different from the original ones? 4) Same questions for the new canes on your shrub roses - are the new blooms a different color than those of the original shrub rose? Tracy, where in the "United States" do you live, per your profile? You're discussing South American species and roses in the Andes as if that's where you are. Silk Floss trees grow readily here in Southern California and sometimes self seed, particularly in potted plants where they find more fertile soil and better water. The "Rosa Mosqueta" you discuss is Rubiginosa, the British Sweet Briar. It is an introduced plant in the Andes where it has naturalized. Reg is correct. While there are members of Rosaceae Family in the Southern Hemisphere, "roses" do not occur naturally outside the Northern Hemisphere. All roses enjoyed in South America, South Africa and other Southern Hemisphere countries are there because someone took them there. I'm guessing once a detailed look is taken at the "sucker" in your plant, it's going to be determined to be a volunteer seedling of some tree. There aren't rose species nor hybrids which present themselves as this one has been reported, even under extreme conditions. Attempting to produce commercial roses on other types of plants, even though they may belong to the same Family, is too hit and miss and usually fail.
