Internet Explorer and Google Hacked
Comments (1)I've been telling people for over 10 years not to use the swiss cheese of browsers. The Internet Elephant has been bad news from the start. But people are like kids. You tell them not to touch that hot stove but some insist on getting burned anyway......See MoreHacking really does happen!
Comments (48)Remember the scam with "Microsoft" calling people telling you your computer is infected. They called me, more than once. I had fun with it. I knew MS wouldn't be calling me to let me know I had a virus but I played along. Of course it was an eastern Indian that I could barely understand so I kept asking him to repeat what he said. Then I would act surprised and horrified. I thanked him over and over for calling to save my computer! I'd pretend to go get my cc so I could pay for their services and make them hold for several minutes. I would act computer illiterate and have to be told over and over again what to do and type. I'd ask "where is the "any" key?" :) I'd pretend to get another call and ask him to hold. Finally after string them along for 20 mins or longer, I'd say something like, "Gotcha you low life scum!"...See MoreIKEA Hacks - Compilation of IKEA Hacks

The second is a set of comments beginning at "July 17, 2015 at 7:46PM". Update 07/24/19: Unlike GardenWeb, Houzz does not show times, they just show things like "X hours ago" or just list a date. I think they also fiddled with the times/dates overall. The first Bbtrix post is now simply "April 17, 2015". Search for "bbtrix" on the thread to find it. Comments (16)They would hack it in order to get personal information. The scam works this way: they hack in, get emails of members, sign those members out, then send a mail to those persons telling them that their account was hacked and to click on a link to re-set their password. Those foolish enough to click on the link are taken to a site that requests personal info under the guise of re-setting their passwords ~OR~ clicking the link introduces malware to their computers. Either way, it aint good. Another possibility could be that the email was legit and a few members' accounts were actually compromised. The way to protect yourself is to never click on a link in an email, but to go instead to your account via the forum's url to re-set your password, if you deem it necessary. The BEST way to protect yourself is to put zero sensitive personal info on any social media site. Emails and geographic locations are not sensitive, but birthdates, the name of your mother's maiden name, and the like could hurt hurt you if an identity thief gets hold of this info....See Morenurseswan
