Logistics dealing with out of stock shower wall tile
Comments (11)My tile person checked with the vendor today. The tiles have already left port of origin (somewhere in China I think) and have a EDD the 3rd week of June. Our remodel is supposed to start at the beginning of the 2nd week. So I think we are moving ahead with these tiles and hopefully they will be here not too late. Meanwhile we will be prepared to get all the other stuff done and just wait to tile the shower wall and finish the plumbing. lillo, we have a tile picked that is very similar to the first choice but it is slightly too brown. That one is in stock so we can get it whenever we want (same day) but hopefully we won't hae to use it....See MoreToughest Tile Cuts in a Shower Renovation
Comments (9)First attempt - yes. I took it slow. Front cut the rectangle cut out with an 8" Glass Blade then back cut the tile about 2/3 deep. Then switch to the face again and finished with the mini 3" Diamond Blade on the grinder. That ended up being too small so switched that to the 4" Diamond Blade on the grinder. Soccer match this morning was cancelled so I booked it downtown and installed the LED lights and heat sink in the niche. Comments (11)What I have observed is that the tiles closer to the walls seem to go hollow versus the center areas of high traffic didn’t go hollow until 1-2 years later. There are still several that are still adhered. I don’t really see a reason for the installer or builder to hide what may have gone wrong but it’s nice to get other feedback as well now that things are visible. The biggest thing I want to address is whether it’s a tile issue so that the tile is not reused and then we have an issue again. Left side - installed tile I pulled up Right side - stored extra tile Interesting that the color is that different unless it’s simply due to a different lot....See MoreAdding Shower Bench After Tiled?
Comments (16)We have had built in benches.. Love them! Much safer than a moveable bench (which we currently have in our rental and have knocked over a couple of times.). Not only are they handy for leg shaving, they have been very helpful when our family has had health crises. Husband had open heart surgery 2 years ago. Our daughter had 2 back surgeries and we took care of her for a couple of weeks afterward. Then, my husband, adult daughter, and I were hit by an 18 wheeler on the Interstate. We all had multiple injuries that required sitting in the shower. The same daughter dislocated her hip. Needing a shower bench went on for several months until we were fully back on our feet and stable. Daughter still needs a hip surgery to repair a tear.. We are adding a built in bench to the Master shower to our new build. The upstairs shower will have a movable bench because we are using a pan up there. A guest shower downstairs will be too small for a bench, but all 3 showers will have shave bars approx 19” off of the floor. 24” is way too high!!!! We will also have attractive handicap bars in all 3 baths with showers, and one in the 4th bathroom tub shower combo. I’m even putting a handicap bar beside my soaker tub. When you have surgery, or an accident, you learn to plan for the unknown....See Moretqtqtbw
