Hi I planted some clematis a few weeks ago and in general they are doing great / growing very vigorously.

One of them is getting these little spots that turn into holes though...and recently also getting streaks of what look like slime or residue.

The other just started to get the same thing but hasnt taken over as drastically.

I don't know enough to know what it is, or if its a problem, and also how to prevent it.

Both are Clematis Viticella. The one that was afflicted first and more severely is Madame Julia Correvon and the one that is more recent / not as bad is Venosa Violacea.

I've uploaded pics of the worst of it.

I know this is the wrong forum but I couldnt' find a more appropriate category and u guys do so well at helping me ID plants so....

Just some insect damage....and quite minor at that. Nothing needs to be done.

btw, there is an entire forum here dedicated to Clematis and it is fairly active year round :-) Lost of experienced growers there to answer any clematis questions.
