Hypertufa pot runoff and deck finish and a planting question

Hi, we made two large hypertufa troughs, using a mold my husband made. Also a few pots. They are happily curing in the cool garage, covered with plastic and I mist them every few days. So far, so good.

Question 1. Will run off from watering and rain damage the finish of our deck? The troughs will live on a stained wooden deck. The plan is to put pot feet under them so they won’t make direct contact, but I wonder about how caustic their runoff will be. I do plan on leaching them well before setting them up.

Question 2. I’m in Alaska and don’t do much with sedums, which are what I typically see planted in ‘tufa. this deck gets really hot when the sun shines, so I was going to plant Mediterranean herbs and lavender. Maybe a few Nasturtium. Would this work, or is there a chemistry factor that I don’t know about?

Question 3. I plan on leaching them in the yard. Will the leaching water harm our grass or should I do this somewhere else?

Thank you!
