And I don't think that the first pic is all that successful at doing it. There isn't enough shiny, or rough, or other shapes. And I don't think the second pic is any more successful with the single insert of color. It needs additional dark accessories in the room to integrate it better. Although Tinker's bath wasn't done by a pro (You aren't a pro are you Tinker?) it's the most successful of those pictured because of the attention to texture and subtle pattern and contrast. The waffle texture of the shower curtain and the additional texture of the rug together with the subtle contrast of color on the walls keeps the white on white from being flat and lifeless, and that's a lesson that the first bath pictured could use. That floor pictured in the master is beyond fab and it adds a lot of character to the space as do the glass shelves and knobs and pulls. The darker walls work better as the instance of strong contrast here, but again, it's more successful because it's carried around the whole room. That's the lesson that the second bath could use. Contrast of texture and repetition of design elements are VERY important when working with a mostly monochromatic color scheme, or even a high contrast dual color scheme....See MoreIf someone asks you to buy something do you think....

Black Friday
Comments (34)This is what I was talking about, not intended for those that love the joy of Black Friday shopping. Even if there are occasional instances, it sheds a bad light. I have no complaint against Black Friday, just what happens some times and this is one of the ones: -- A woman suspected of showering Black Friday shoppers with pepper spray surrendered to authorities but was released pending further investigation after she refused to discuss the incident, police said Saturday. The woman, whose name was not released, is suspected of firing pepper spray into a crowd in order to clear a path to a crate of Xbox video game players that were being unwrapped late Thanksgiving night at a Walmart in the upscale Porter Ranch section of the San Fernando Valley. The suspect got away in the confusion, and it was not known if she bought one of the Xboxes. Ten people suffered minor injuries from the spray and 10 others sustained cuts and bruises in the ensuing chaos. "Last night at 8:30 the suspect involved in the pepper spray incident at the Porter Ranch Walmart turned herself in," police Sgt. Jose Valle said Saturday. She immediately invoked her right against self-incrimination, however, and refused to discuss the incident further. Police released her pending further investigation. Valle said investigators still have nearly a dozen witnesses to interview, including several spraying victims. He added it would likely be at least two days before an arrest in the case could be made. If the woman who surrendered is indeed the person who sprayed the crowd she could face battery charges....See MoreDo you think, and rethink, and think again about your choices?
Comments (46)I used to be much more cavalier about discarding roses but I've changed my ways. For one, it takes so long for bands to grow into ornamental plants with little rain. Besides, by now I should know better and be more discriminating in what I order. I know now that Maggie does not ring my chimes but she's staying. Charles Darwin, of which I have two, hardly lasts one day, but I hope with age that will improve. Mrs. Henry Morse is one of those early hybrid teas that take forever to put on growth so that might have been a mistake. I'll try fish solution to hurry her along. Mme. Antoine Mari's flowers are really too delicate for the heat, but there again I hope she'll toughen up with age. Sometimes I wish desperately that I could begin the whole process over again, amend the soil properly before planting, install drip watering right away and choose roses as though my life depended on it. Oh well........See Morearcy_gw
