Milgard Tuscany or Trinsic for 72x72 picture window

I am currently trying to replace some old single pane windows (aluminium frame) with something modern. My budget narrow down my option to a Vinyl frame. This is a large picture window 72x72. I really like the Trinsic series, its sleek and modern compared to Tuscany. But Tuscany also looks very sturdy. And obviously Trinsic is easy on the purse compared to Tuscany. My question is, given the dimentions and how big these windows are, should i go for something more sturdy like Tuscany series or is Trinsic good enough. I expect to be in this home for atleast 15 more years and i am looking for a durable option.

1. If they will make it, you should be fine. Keep in mind, on that large a window, the delta between the two will be minuscule.

They're both nice looking, but I like the Tuscany as pictured here:

this one too. check into a custom window manufacturer. they can often make what you want at a lower price.

I have Milgard Tuscany series casements, one on either side of a picture window. The minute they were installed, I open both casements all the way. I am in Southern California, so open windows for evening breezes are key to enjoying them. What do you know, when I tried to leave the house a couple hours later, the windows would not close. I had to leave them open for a few days until someone was able to come out and look at them. Milgard sent someone who “fixed” them by preventing them from opening a full 90°. They know each only open 80°. I tried to complain about this, but was difficult to get any kind of response and they seemed to be trying to kick the can back to the dealer. It is four years later and I still have these casement windows, but specifically two provide air into the house that do not even open all the way. I regret it daily and wish I had just gone with a double slider.

A quality vinyl window with a Bronze or Brown exterior is not an issue at all. Anything Pella would be a non-starter in my opinion (CR reports not with standing). Andersen 100's are a decent window. Milgard as a whole gets plenty of good reviews from the western part of the country so I would not be afraid of them (only thing that scares me is that they were purchased by MI recently).

Andersen 100 -- but we regret the choice. We weren't able to see a sample in person before ordering so we went off of photos and here's what we learned: The Milgard Hardware is easier to use, looks cleaner and the frame is much thinner. It feels less sturdy, however, when you operate the windows. That said, both the A100 and Milgard "feel" cheap to me. Neither is particularly sturdy. The A100 is more rigid, but the frame is very thick and the frame material feels like PVC pipe (not a compliment). The hardware on the A100 is cheap, breaks easily and is not easy to use (tiny little buttons). We did not do casement, we did sliders so maybe casement feels better in terms of operation/hardware, but I wouldn't know. If I had to do it all over again, on a similar budget, looking at single hung vs casement, I'd go with Milgard vinyl, no question.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I had thought too, at first, but I've measured and confirmed that the frame is the exact same width at the top, middle, and bottom. The sash moves about 1/4 inch from farthest left to farthest right. It moves the same amount whether closed, fully open, and half way. I had just accepted that this was normal for Style Line windows, as the Anlin and Pella windows that I've installed have no lateral sash play at all, but they were all much more expensive. I was less interested in trying to debug the existing style line windows, and more interested in knowing if Trinsic or Tuscany series windows have this same issue.

Thanks for the response @WIndows on Washington and @Beth H. I guess my real question is, if money is not a factor between Tuscany and Trinsic and if i choose trinsic for the looks, is there a quality compromise? In other words, Tuscany is more expensive and has more vinyl. does this also mean its more durable or higher quality product?

Also a sales man was trying to convince that Milgard is a bad choice since the company is up for sale and they wont respect the warrently. is there any truth to it?

Found this online comparison https://www.doorandwindowplus.com/milgard-styleline-vs-trinsic-vs-tuscany.html and the price difference seems to be due to more features on the Tuscany windows. 1. Tuscany has built in glass breakage warranty and Trinsic does not (unless you pay for an upgrade), 2. Tuscany has better pull rails on the screens vs plastic pull tabs on the Trinsic screens and 3. Tuscany has vent stops, where Trinsic has none. But I think durability between the two are comparable.
