While it could be Haworthia tesselata, it almost has more of an Aloe appearance

Below is a picture of my Haw tessellata. It lives outside and gets bright sunlight, mostly indirect but a bit of weak direct in the early morning hours. Is this the kind of leaf markings that yours has?

Whatever its ID, I think your Haw is very thirsty, that's why the leaves are folded inward like that. Never saw that on a Haw before, but I have seen it on Sans (which I'm known to underwater).

Also, these are not plants for direct light or sun, more bright indirect, like part shade or the edge of a window.

It could well be H venosa tesselata, but hard to ID in such odd condition. Really, give it a lot of water, til it pours out the bottom.

Sorry, but broken leaves from these don't propagate. You need a division or a pup, like an Aloe.

Aloe juvenna doesn't have tessellata like markings. And it does propagate very easily from stem cuttings. I have propagated many (not leaves). After taking cutting, original stem will branch too. Here is juvenna:

I keep it outdoors, in full sun, during summer and do not mind darker color it gets.

It is hard to tell what plants you have there (maybe you can post a clear close up pls?) - but it maybe be different plant.

The broken off pieces all had roots ready to go if they contacted soil. I have stuck pieces of this plant into pots of damp soil before and they became thriving new plants.

I looked up Aloe juvenna. Nope, it's definitely not that. It most closely resembles Haworthia glauca in the way that it grows. I wonder if it's some hybrid form of H. glauca.

If 'leaves' had roots, they were offsets not leaf cuttings. They should grow.

Yes, Rina, they should grow, which is why I stuck 'em back into some soil. Whatever this is, it roots very readily.

So did they have roots or not? When you say:..."it roots very readily"...it sounds they have no roots at all. In previous post you said:..." all had roots ready to go"...What do you mean by ready to go? Sorry to ask so many questions, just wanted to know. Could you please post a photo of the cuttings or offsets - whatever they are? TIA.

Rina--the big piece I stuck into a pot with soil had these sort of dormant roots-to-go kind of roots which I know will "activate" and grow into a root system when planted in soil, from previous experience. And, I've stuck pieces of this plant which had no dormant roots and they developed roots and grew.

Thank you. That I am familiar with. Aloes, haws, gasteraloes, gasterias - they will root from rootless offsets. I have some photos of this Alworthia 'Walmsley's Bronze' that were rooted same way:

I was wondering if it was solitary leaf - just like echeveria, or jade or similar succulents, that grew roots and plantlet. I never tried to root a solitary leaf of haws or aloes.
