Comments (3)Photo not showing, but I think I understand what you are considering. If so, I am doing the same and it shouldn't be a problem to get the vacuum wand back there to get dust and hair. Our isn't installed yet, but it will be at leads 4" from the back wall, with more space at the ends....See MoreAny thoughts on free standing tubs?
Comments (22)Doing a renovation for a flip, and the free-standing soaking tub seems to be the current trend for the master bath, but I've not done one before and this discussion has been very helpful! It appears that I need to tile up the wall about 3' and add a shelf - anything else I should plan for? [Sorry for the silly question, but I'm more a shower person - I'm assuming there's no place for the soap, b/c you shower first then just soak in the tub?]...See Morefree standing tubs vs.built in whirpool
Comments (2)Free standing is currently the in thing. Like all in things, it will go out soon enough. Lots of people are doing cheap, inappropriate free standing tubs, which will be the death of the look at the higher end. However, if you have the space to put a nice free standing tub in, with plenty of room around it for cleaning and a stool or bench close by for towels and a place to sit, then, great, consider it. Since yo are not a tub person, I would skip this option since it is lots more work and hassle to keep clean. I would get a nice, regular tub in cast iron. You can get a drop in kind and have a lovely surround and ledge made for it. Or you can get a traditional built in tub with the metal exposed on one side and the other three sides against walls. Do not get a Jacuzzi tub. A lot of people find those unappealing due to cleaning the jets. And absolutely no garden type tub with a Jacuzzi....See Morecleaning behind a free standing tub
Comments (2)I stayed in an air bnb that had a wet room with a freestanding tub, and EVERYTHING got wet when using the shower. If it were my home I’d be unable to clean between the tub and the 2 walls that were around it (back wall, side wall and open on the 3rd side to shower. I didn’t seem practical to me. Now, if it was a huge bathroom where you could easily mop around the tub I guess that would be better. Better yet would be to at least have 1 wall of a glass partition between tub and shower to reduce splashing onto tub with every shower. Also, the floor, toilet, TP, towels, and sink would all get wet every time. It’s not for me at all....See MoreK R
