Comments (0)I received this from a friend i was visiting in Fla. she called it a ground orchid. I looked on the internet, seems like i found a couple of possibilities, but looks like def. a Dedromium, i probably didn't remember that right. Thanks for your help and i'd love some tips on growing it in a pot here in zone 5....See MoreID help posting pic one more time!
Comments (13)to dial in the right potting mix a little more info is needed. Do you have time for frequent watering? Or minimizing your need. Plastic pots with fir bark plus sphagnum will stay wet the longest but will eventually go bad and will harm or kill your orchids if you wait to repot too long. Clay pots aspire along with lava rocks is what I use. Needs a lot of water. And variations to match your watering. I grow them in pots and in the ground. Both flower but the plants in pots grow bigger. They are easy to grow. They need sun, water, fertilizer and above 50 degrees. Morning sun always works...You need to wet the aerials for feed and water every day......See MoreMaybe one more posting
Comments (12)Nancy, I am sorry about your Gentle Shepherd. I have had that one forever and always think how "sweet" it looks when it blooms. Hopefully you can revive yours. Orange Velvet is also an oldie but has always been so reliable and a bloom machine. And yes, Maryl, I too blame Debra for tempting us with A Little Fire Scarecrow!! Celeste, I have often wondered how Yazoo Elsie Hintson performs in northern gardens. Adding one I meant to add but forgot. This is Easter Holiday. Late blooming. Blooms are larger than registered (for me, anyway). Petals are off due to heavy wind we got from the tropical depression. But it is tall and pretty!! At least, for those of us who like the yellows!! KateYou can tell it needs dividing-not as many scapes as usual, although there are two others lying on the ground on the ground on the other side-still way down from last year....See MoreOne More Post on this Fiery Day
Comments (6)Of course I would love Prospero and William Shakespeare and Falstaff but I am still trying to figure out where to put the ones I have already ordered. But I love those colors sooooo much....See Morenicholsworth Z6 Indianapolis
